O/T - Kim Mulkey, Baylor, LSU

Not sure if everyone saw the big news that happened yesterday in women`s basketball, but Kim Mulkey left Baylor for LSU. She built Baylor into the program that it is today as they had never even been to the NCAA Tournament prior to her arrival at the turn of the century and are a 3-time National Champion program. This would be akin to like a John Calipari leaving Kentucky for Oklahoma or a Tom Izzo leaving Michigan State for Florida State.

Just fyi, Baylor WBB is 187-9 in Big XII games since 2010. I assume UConn probably has experienced that kind of dominance in their conference, but not sure even Tennessee dominated the SEC like that. LSU will be a serious title contender within 3 years.

Really good article today in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on how the bloom fell from the roses for Mulkey at Baylor. When football and men`s basketball returned to prominence after years in the doldrums, looks like the Baylor athletics and university administrations lost interest in wbb. Both the AD and the president refused to consider meeting LSU`s offer in order to keep her.

I have no doubt Mulkey can be a handful. She has a huge ego, is very outspoken and not afraid to ruffle some feathers. She is also extremely successful and I think she has shown a great deal of loyalty. Let`s face it, when Baylor was dealing with murders, drug dealers, etc within their athletic department in the mid 2000`s, she stuck it out and even won the National title in 2005. She was not only the face of Baylor Women`s Basketball, she was the face of Baylor.

Baylor will undoubtedly fall a little bit as those are some big shoes to fill. However, look for LSU to be competing for SEC and national titles within 3 or 4 years. Love her or hate her, she is very dynamic and a proven winner.

Coach Mulkey has over 600 wins and under 200 losses.  3 National Championships at Baylor.  During which a male hoop player shot and killed teammate and then coach tried to cover it up.  52 rape allegations agaist football program and AD & coach at the time covered up.  Coach M making 2.27 million at Baylor.  LSU got her for 2.5 million.

What a clueless University Baylor is with AD & President.  Don`t care the women`s program does not turn a profit.  This Coach was the only positive press for a decade at the national level.  Great get LSU and cannot wait to see her smiling with Shaq standing next to her with a national championship trophy in a few years.

Kim Mulkey must be one of the most competitive persons on the earth. She says she wakes up wondering who she will beat. Have read some Texas articles on her and one said the AD wanted her gone because of her wanting things like the new auditorium closer to campus among other requests. Bottom line highly successful coach but obviously not the easiest person to work with.

She just got freshman center Hannah Gusters to transfer from Baylor to LSU. With the new NCAA transfer rule in effect with no sit out time required we are about to see a huge increase in transfers, this should be interesting to say the least.

The women`s transfer portal just topped 1,000. 317 schools have had at least one player enter it this year. Don`t even get me started on the men`s side lol. It`s pretty much a free-for-all at this point.
