OT: Hartford women`s coach quits

Morgan Valley resigned today as head women`s basketball coach at Hartford. She is going back to UConn, where she played and where she was a graduate assistant coach before assisting at several programs and then going to Hartford in 2019-20. She replaces Shea Ralph at UConn, I presume.

She had a tough row to hoe at UH, won only five games in two years. She had almost no talent to work with after Hartford had finished second to Maine in 2018-19.

This may add to the conjecture that Hartford may drop down to DIII athletics to reduce the $13 million deficit in the athletic department.

Also in Connecticut, Jenn Rizzotti, who coached Harftord for 17 years, yesterday was named president of the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA. She was fired by George Washington this spring after going 49-43 in three years, including qualifying for the the NCAAs a year ago and the WNIT the year before.
