UMMBB Pauses Due To COVID-19

And here we go again with " presumptive" test results. How much more will this program suffer due to " presumptive" results? Can anyone in that system conduct a test that gives a firm result? Women`s hockey had a " positive" so I am all in on quarantines and pausing, but this " presumptive" stuff is just mind boggling. Is this 3 times now between MBB and MHockey? and no actual positives?

This one sounds like it will take a while. Just got off the phone with someone who is affliated to the UVM program and he is schocked they played this weekend. Multiple teams on campus are shut down due to covid, and then Saturday morning a strength coach at UVM was showing symptons. According to him, this is why the game was delayed Saturday, they were waiting other test results. Now UVM has players who have tested positive as well as Maine.

This may explain, in part, why Maine played so poorly over the weekend. The Vermont athletic department needs to get their house in order.

Amen to that.

UVM women`s basketball is part of this, too. Won`t host Hartford this weekend. Didn`t come to Maine last weekend.

Women`s scheduling is getting down to the wire. Two teams, Vermont and UMBC, have four two-game sets to make up and only two weekends (Feb. 6-7, Feb. 20-21) to do it. Two other teams, Stony Brook and Hartford, have three sets to make up and only those two weekends to do it.

Maine has the set from last weekend to make up with Vermont.

Does this mean that AE will have to tell some of the teams lowest in the standings that they cannot finish their seasons to make time for Stony Brook and Vermont, which are in the running for high seeds? AE hasn`t posted tournament dates yet, so we can`t tell whether the tournament can be postponed to get in the regular-season games. Only alternative I see is doubling up some teams to play mid-week sets (Wed.-Thur.?) and then play their weekend sets on Sunday and Monday, or some such.

AE tourney should be 4 teams at highest (COVID safe) seed played in 2 days (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun).  This is all about being realistic, safe, simple and quick.

Basketball starting to feel the pain of what AE baseball is forced to go through almost every year.  Granted, Covid and rain aren`t the same, but welcome to the shit show basketball.

I`m thinking this is the year the AE will scrap both the Women`s & Men`s tournaments and give the Auto Bid to the regular season champions.

Definitely looking like that but they hate to give anything to Maine so.....
