I just don't want to hear you guys crying foul when our chubby little Maine girls and European leftovers are getting dunked on by broad shouldered Amazon women.

Noelle Baxter committed to Kutztown University (D2?)Still not sure why Maine is targeting marginal D1 recruits but they have such a strong track record of development of non-bigs it's hard to argue with their scouting in that area.

UMSF: I would agree with you. They have not had a true solid back-to-the-basket player for the past 10 years. Their best post up player in the bast few years was a face the basket player at 5'10". Did not develop either 6'5" or 6'3" BIGS they have had for the past 3 years? But then again how many teams (mens or womens) at the college D-1 level really recruit and then develop low skilled BIGS????? College BIGS either have the skills when they are recruited, very few are developed by coaching staffs.

Their best post up player in the past few years was a face-the-basket player at 5'10" Tanesha Sutton. She had excellent post up skills but was not used much on the block, but when she was she was extremely effective. Usually got there on offensive rebounds or cuts to the block from the wing.Did not develop either 6'5" Kat Williams or 6'3" Kira Barra BIGS they have had for the past 3 years? But then again, how many teams (men's or women's) at the college D-1 level really recruit and then develop low skilled BIGS????? College BIGS recruited either have the skills when they are recruited, very few are developed by coaching staffs. One of the reasons and probably the biggest reason D-1 college coaches do not develop BIGS as that they were not BIGS themselves as players nor were their assistants. Most of the coaches were face-the-basket players. The only BIG coaching at the D-1 level as a head coach that I know of is Patrick Ewing of Georgetown.BIGS can be taught how to seal their defenders, when and how to ask for the ball on the block, how to free them selves when being held in the block by the defender, what to do when they are being fronted, played from behind or on either side or when being denied, and what to do when being double teamed These are not really physical skills they are more mental skills. All players on the floor should know how to post up on the block so as to take advantage of mismatches. Few teams do this at any level.

What in the fresh hell are you talking about, Cim?They may not have a good track record of recruiting/developing tall post players, but...did you watch like a single Maeve Carroll highlight from this year? She got like 15 post touches a game and was super duper effective. For you to say they haven't had a back to the basket player in a while is simply false. it's not opinion, you're just wrong.
