Smooth transition for Windjammer lacrosse coaches Ward, Rogers[i:1aeh4f8g]Ward takes over girls program, Rogers boys team[/i:1aeh4f8g]ROCKPORT — Addition by subtraction perhaps best explains the state of the Camden Hills Regional High School lacrosse programs head into the 2018 season. With one coach stepping down at the conclusion of last year, another moving from guiding one team to the other and a third moving from an assistant to the head coaching ranks, it plays out like a game of shuffle up and deal. But, according to athletic director Steve Alex, in regards to the circumstances surrounding the programs, “it was almost too easy.”Boys lacrosse coach Wade Ward, who guided the Windjammers three seasons, will transition to coach the girls program this season after former coach Amy Gertner resigned her post to take a job out of state. Gertner led the Windjammer girls five seasons.https://knox.villagesoup.com/p/smooth-t ... rs/1738307

PPH Boys’ lacrosse preview: As sport grows, third class opens the door for many teamsArea coaches agree that adding Class C opens competitive doors for many programs and was the right step for their sport's continued growth....“I think it’s perfect. It’s the right step in the right direction to truly grow the sport in Maine,” said Freeport Coach Geoff Arris.Freeport is in the newly created Class C, a group of smaller and/or newer programs. For the first time in the 21-year history of lacrosse being a sanctioned Maine Principals’ Association sport, teams like Freeport, Fryeburg Academy, Waynflete, Wells can realistically entertain dreams of playing for a state championship. That’s because they’ve escaped the shadow of dominance cast by the most established programs, notably Cape Elizabeth, Yarmouth and Falmouth.https://www.pressherald.com/2018/04/17/ ... ird-class/
