From video grunts to pro basketball head coachesPortland native Josh Longstaff and Brandon Bailey of the Red Claws parlayed their video-editing talents to land bigger roles. It may look like a run-of-the-mill MacBook Pro, but in the capable hands of Josh Longstaff, his laptop computer becomes something else.“The Truth Box is what I like to call it,” said Longstaff, the 35-year-old Portland native and head coach of the Erie BayHawks. “I can tell a player, ‘It’s not me just telling you this. See, it’s right there.’ ”Longstaff and Brandon Bailey of the Maine Red Claws – both rookie head coaches in the G League – got their pro basketball starts as grunts who toiled endlessly over laptops, editing raw video into a format useful to coaches and players. Now they’re passing on their technological expertise to their own assistants, and helping players develop into better pros.https://www.pressherald.com/2018/02/04/ ... d-coaches/

[u:7vh8tuv5]Portland High grad now holding court with Bucks[/u:7vh8tuv5]BOSTON — Seventeen years ago, Josh Longstaff was among the fans chanting “Let’s Go, Celtics!” at an NBA playoff game at the FleetCenter.Back then, Longstaff was a college freshman at Bryant University, a walk-on to the basketball team after playing at Portland High. He cheered for a Celtics squad that included Paul Pierce, Kenny Anderson and Antoine Walker.“I loved the game,” said Longstaff, “and the experience was really cool.”On Friday night, Longstaff was back in the same building – renamed TD Garden – for another playoff game. Now 36 and newly married, he’s in his first season as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks. With his parents and brother in the stands, Longstaff sat on the back bench, a row behind head coach Mike Budenholzer, and exhorted the visitors from Wisconsin.https://www.pressherald.com/2019/05/04/ ... ing-court/

Josh must of got a chair closer to the head coach to leave the Bucks.  Just the nicest young man one could meet.  This might put him one step away a few years down the road to become Maine`s third head coach.  Can you believe it.  What a coaching staff to be part of with Mo Cheeks.
