Defending state champs survive overtime scareNo. 1 York holds off No. 5 Lake Region, 2-1, in Class B South....The Wildcats advanced to Tuesday’s regional final against third-ranked Poland at Thornton Academy in Saco.“It was just really exciting to have it go our way,” said Bouchard, bottled up much of the game by double teams. “I saw the goalie coming out at me. I don’t know why I shot it right at her but it went through (her pads), so that was pretty lucky.”Winless a year ago, Lake Region (8-8) gave the perennially powerful Wildcats all they could handle. After giving up a disputed goal in the final minute of the first half, Lake Region tied it a little over two minutes into the second when Dessi Berry buried the rebound of an Olivia Deschenes shot.http://www.pressherald.com/2017/10/20/f ... ime-scare/

WILDCATS 2, LAKERS 1 (2OT): York’s magical ride continues...A little over two minutes into the second sudden-death overtime, in the aftermath of a penalty corner, Bouchard stickhandled the ball into the circle and dodged a defender. She recognized the goalie was coming out at her and pushed the ball between her pads for a 2-1 win.“It’s not a set play,” said York coach Barb Marois. “It might be now.”The late bit of brilliance capped a semifinal that featured a controversial goal at the end of the first half and kept alive the top-seeded Wildcats’ hopes for a fourth straight Class B championship. They’ll play third-seeded Poland (12-4) in the regional final at Thornton Academy on Tuesday.“If they had ended up scoring and ended up winning it, it would have been absolutely terrible,” said Bouchard. “It was really exciting to have it go our way.”http://www.seacoastonline.com/sports/20 ... -continues
