[u:nfdb4kxa]Sea Dogs beat Hartford 5-2[/u:nfdb4kxa]Portland, Maine - Kyle Hart set the tone with seven strong innings and the Sea Dogs (12-21) defeated the Hartford Yard Goats (19-18) 5-2 in the series opener on Monday night at Hadlock Field.Hart (W, 3-4) hurled a season-high seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits while walking three and fanning seven. The southpaw has a quality start in three of his last four outings.The scoring began in the bottom of the second on a leadoff home run by Bobby Dalbec over the Maine Monster, his seventh of the season and fourth in the past two games.The Sea Dogs took a 3-0 lead in the third on an RBI triple by Brett Netzer and a sac fly by CJ Chatham.Hartford plated a run off of Hart in the fourth on a two-out RBI single from Arvicent Perez. The Goats scored again with two outs in the sixth on a double by Alan Trejo.Ashton Goudeau allowed three runs on six hits over six innings, he walked one and struck out seven.Portland was able to pull away in the eighth with two runs off of Jordan Foley. Foley walked Dalbec with the bases loaded and Cody Asche added a sac fly to make it 5-2.Brian Ellington worked a scoreless eighth for the 'Dogs. Daniel McGrath (SV, 1) earned his first save of the season with a perfect ninth.The three-game series continues on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field with a 6:00 PM start. RHP Denyi Reyes (0-4, 5.74) opposes Hartford LHP Jacky Wynkoop (2-5, 3.15).

Madden clubbed two homers in Portland's 5-4 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils (22-16) on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Sea Dogs (12-27) dropped all four games in the series, and have lost six in a row.Trailing 5-1 entering the ninth inning, Tate Matheny led off with a double against J.D. Hammer. Jerry Downs followed with an RBI single and Madden hit a two-shot down the left-field line. With two outs, Brett Netzer doubled, but Addison Russ (save) fanned C.J. Chatham (2-for-5) to end the game.Right-hander Adonis Medina (1-2) earned his first win of the season with five scoreless frames. Denyi Reyes (0-6) was outstanding in the loss for Portland. Reyes allowed one run on a run-scoring groundout by Darrick Hall in the first. Hall gave Reading a 3-0 lead with a two-run homer in the sixth. Madden put the 'Dogs on the board in the seventh, smacking a solo-shot in the seventh. For Madden, the multi-homer game was the first in his career, and he now has five homers in 66 minor league games.Reading extended their lead to 5-1 in the seventh inning on a two-run homer by Luke Williams.The Sea Dogs shift their road trip to Trenton, New Jersey on Monday night,

Red Sox infielders Brock Holt (0-for-2, BB) and Dustin Pedroia (0-for-2) were both in the lineup for Portland. Reyes was outstanding over six scoreless frames, yielding just three hits and recording a season-high eight strikeouts. The right-hander record a 1-2-3 frame in four of his six innings.Jake Cosart pitched two hitless innings to earn a hold in his 2019 debut with Portland. Jordan Weems fanned Logan Hill on a 97 mph fastball to secure his fourth save of the season.The lone run for the 'Dogs came in the fifth inning against losing pitcher James Marvel (L, 4-5). Josh Tobias was hit by a pitch to start the inning and advanced to third base on the double by Luke Tendler. Romanski's sac-fly to right field came on the first pitch.Holt played six innings at shortstop and went 0-for-2 with a walk. Pedroia played four innings at second base and went 0-for-2. Portland has won back-to-back games for the first time since May 7-8.Right-hander Tanner Houck (W, 4-4) snapped a three-game losing streak with a terrific outing. Houck worked six innings on five hits, three runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts. Portland's bullpen retired all nine batters, receiving two innings from Daniel McGrath (hold) and one frame from Brian Ellington (save). The game ended on a diving catch by RF Keith Curcio.During Portland's five-run first, Brett Netzer knocked in the first run with a run-scoring double. Josh Tobias and Tate Matheny supplied RBI hits, and Jhon Nunez wrapped up the five-run inning with a two-out RBI single.Altoona got their first run in the third inning on a solo homer by Ryan Peurifoy. Dogs win 7-3 over Altoona[/u:32ado2f1]Portland, Maine - Tate Matheny cracked a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Portland Sea Dogs (16-32) a 7-3 win over the Altoona Curve (23-26) in the series finale on Monday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Portland took three of four over the Curve and picked up their first walk-off win of the season.Brett Netzer started the rally with a one-out single off losing pitcher Matt Eckelman (1-2). With two outs, Josh Tobias and Cody Asche drew walks. Matheny homered on the first pitch, an opposite-field shot just about the right-field wall. Matheny has two grand slams out of his three Double-A homers.Durbin Feltman (W, 2-1) allowed the tying run in the ninth inning, a homer by Jared Oliva, but earned the win.Eckelman suffered his second of the series, yielding four runs in just 2/3 of an inning.Portland starter Dedgar Jimenez (ND) was outstanding in his ninth start of the year. Jimenez tossed six scoreless on just six hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.The 'Dogs struck first on a run-scoring single by Luke Tendler in the second inning.
