CM BOYS’ CROSS COUNTRY: Messalonskee returns with raised expectationsRamblers aim to challenge Boothbay in MVC.The Messalonskee boys cross country team enjoyed a strong season last fall, and it returns this year with higher expectations. The Eagles finished third in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A, but given the graduation of the top two conference runners — Mt. Blue’s Aaron Willingham and Dan Lesko — as well as a strong returning nucleus, they are poised for a strong season.Juniors Owen Concaugh (7th in KVAC Class A, 18:03.30) and Zachariah Hoyle (12th in KVAC Class A, 18:41..20) will lead the Eagles. Seniors Carson Bessey and Natale Cardillo give Messalonskee ample depth to make a run at perennial KVAC Class A powerhouse Hampden Academy.http://www.centralmaine.com/2015/09/04/ ... ectations/Central Maine (KJ + Sentinel ) - allows 10 free reads per month for non-subscribers.

PPHCross Country Preview: Coaches are in it for the long runVeteran coaches – and there are a lot of them – take endurance literally.Nearly two decades into his cross country coaching career at Scarborough High, Jim Harmon is coming off a seventh Class A boys’ state title and showing no sign of the burnout that can claim colleagues who coach other sports.Cross county, he said, is different. Parents never complain about playing time for their kids because, until the regional and state meets, everyone gets to run. And as for choosing seven runners for the big meets at season’s end, “that doesn’t usually come down to my decision,” said Harmon, who lets results dictate his championship lineuphttp://www.pressherald.com/2015/09/09/c ... -long-run/Portland Press Herald - allows 10 free reads per month for non-subscribers.
