NAC Semifinal: Maine Maritime Academy at Colby-Sawyer CollegeLIVE VIDEO & LIVE STATS | DIRECTIONS Tuesday's Game: #3 Maine Maritime Academy (10-7-1) vs. #2 Colby-Sawyer College (11-3-2), 1:30 p.m., Kelsey Soccer Field, New London, N.H.Series History: The Chargers hold a 5-0 all-time record over the Mariners, in a rivalry that only dates back to 2011. This is the third time the two teams will meet at Colby-Sawyer.Postseason History: This is the first postseason meeting between these two teams.Last Meeting: On September 19th the Mariners hosted the Chargers for their NAC opener, falling 3-2 on Ritchie Field.Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calfi.) headed in a goal in the 12th minute of the game, on a ball crossed by Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.), but the Chargers responded nearly eight minutes later when Dominique Papa snuck a ball past Mariner keeper Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) to tie the game at 1-1.Maura Kane gave the Chargers the lead entering the half with a goal in the 42nd minute. Lewis put the game at 2-2 in the 58th minute, but the Chargers scored in the 75th minute on a goal from Nell McQueeney, to take the 3-2 win.McConkey recorded four saves in net, while Karley Hamilton stopped two shots in net for the Chargers.The game broke the Charger's four-game shutout streak against the Mariners, and was the closest game in program history between the two teams.Maine Maritime Academy This Season: The Mariners compiled an impressive 9-7-1 overall record during the regular season, including a program-record eight shutouts, and a 6-2-1 record in the NAC. This season, the Mariners recorded the most conference wins since 2006, when they went 7-3-1 in the NAC. The 8-4 record at home, is the best home record for the Mariners since 2004, when they went 7-3-1 on Ritchie Field.Maine Maritime opened up their season with a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Gordon College on September 1, and wrapped up their season going 8-2 in the final 10 games. The Mariners needed extra time in four contests, with two games heading into overtime and two going into double overtime.On Saturday the Mariners defeated #6 Husson University 1-0, to advance to the semifinals. Susana DeFrank scored the game-winner in the 67th minute, her eighth goal of the season and second game-winner.Colby-Sawyer This Season: The Chargers went 11-3-2 overall this season, including a 8-1 record in the NAC. Only two of Colby-Sawyer's games went into extra time, both resulting in a tie. Colby-Sawyer opened up their season with a 3-0 non-conference win over Norwich. The Chargers saw their eight-game win streak snapped with a 2-0 loss to Castleton on October 20. The Mariners: Freshman Makayla Lewis leads the team with 12 goals and five assists, for a total of 26 points, while Susana DeFrank had eight goals, and Emily Wyman (Brockton, Mass.) and Tori Cooper (Saco, Maine) each have six goals each. Wyman dished out six assists, and Cooper tallied five helpers.The Chargers: Rachel Quaye leads Colby-Sawyer with eight goals, including four game-winners and three assists, while Lizzie Jorgensen leads the team with six assists. Abbie Sansoucy leads the team with 51 shots.NAC Rankings: Makayla Lewis ranks third in the North Atlantic Conference in goals and points, while Maggie McConkey ranks second in goals against average (1.19), third in goals against (22), and fourth in save percentage (.790). McConkey also leads the NAC in shutouts. Emily Wyman's six assists ties her with five players for second best in the NAC, including Colby-Sawyer's Lizzie Jorgensen.Charger keeper Karley Hamilton leads the NAC in save percentage (.829), goals-against average (.081) and goals against (13).Scoring Threats: Susana DeFrank and Makayla Lewis are the only two Mariners who have scored against the Chargers, Lewis dished out an assist against Colby-Sawyer as well.Dominique Papa, Maura Kane, Nell McQueeney, Rachel Quaye, Corrie Hoyt, Kelsey Campbell and Tallon Tomasi have scored against the Mariners. Lizzie Jorgensen, Quaye and Campbell have also picked up assists against the Mariners. Papa, Kane, and McQueeney are the only Chargers to get past Mariner keeper Maggie McConkey.By the Numbers: In the conference matchup earlier this season, the Mariners scored a two goals on the Chargers, the only other NAC team to score that many goals against Colby-Sawyer was the #1 seeded Castleton University.The Chargers scored three goals on the Mariners, the most by any conference opponent.
