AHL: Pirates business as usualBy Paul Betit No matter what happens with the impending change in ownership or location of the NHL parent Phoenix Coyotes, it will be business as usual for the Portland Pirates.The NHL, which has operated the Coyotes since buying the team out of U.S. Bankruptcy Court in 2009, has approved the sale of the team to Renaissance Sports and Entertainment, but the deal hinges on whether the prospective buyers can reach a lease agreement with the financially-strapped city of Glendale for Jobing.Com Arena, home of the Coyotes.Read more: http://www.kjonline.com/sports/pirates- ... 06-18.html

AHL: Pirates' coaches to returnBy Paul Betit NHL parent Phoenix Coyotes have agreed to contract extensions with Portland Pirates head coach Ray Edwards and assistant coaches John Slaney and Mike Minard.In addition, Pirates' athletic trainer Mike Booi and equipment manager John Krouse have signed contract extensions."We are very pleased to have Ray continue to lead our AHL team in Portland," Coyotes vice president of hockey operations and assistant general manager Brad Treliving said.
