How is help from a spotter scored?

Hello all. New to the cheerleader forums. Usually live in the B'ball area. Had a question on routine scoring since the whole thing is a bit of a mystery to me. How is it scored when a spotter needs to assist or prevent a competitor from falling to the floor. My understanding is that if someone falls from a stunt, going to the floor, then it is a major deduction. 5 or 10 points. So what happens if someone is falling but for safety sake the spotter catches them, preventing them from going to the floor. I saw this occur at the B State Championships and am curious how this is scored. I would think it is scored the same as a true fall but not sure. I know the top priority is the protection and safety of the competitors so in no way am I promoting the spotters to leave things alone but at the same time I would not want a team to benefit from a safety situation. Thanks for any guidance or information you may have.
