Civic Center vote stifles talks of Pirates possible move to SacoMANCHESTER, N.H. — York County voters had no say in Tuesday’s Civic Center renovation referendum. That was the sole province of ballot casters one county to the north. But they did have an interest in the outcome, which authorized a bond issue of $33 million to renovate the 34-year-old arena, whose primary tenant is the AHL’s Portland Pirates. The initiative, which passed by nearly a 2-to-1 margin, will bring much needed improvements such as premium seating to the aging, 6,733-seat structure. In turn, officials with the Pirates, who draw heavily from York County for both ticket buyers and advertising sponsors, hope that those upgrades will put an end to the ongoing uncertainty about the club’s future.for full storyhttp://www.journaltribune.com/articles/ ... 513190.txt
