By Matt Boutwell...AUGUSTA—In Tuesday’s Western Class C quarterfinal win over Madison at the Augusta Civic Center, Waynflete junior guard Martha Veroneau opened up the game with two 3-pointers, and didn’t score from the field again (although she did add 14 points from the free throw line). Going in to Thursday’s semifinal against third-seeded Boothbay, Waynflete coach Brandon Salway thought Veroneau might be primed for a big game. for full story

By Randy Whitehouse..AUGUSTA — Short-handed Mt. Abram played as if it knew it would eventually run out of gas during Tuesday's Western C quarterfinal against Boothbay. And yet, in spite of a brutal start, or perhaps because of it, the Roadrunners were determined to get more mileage out of their last half tank than they got out of their first. Smothering full-court defense resulted in an 20-point deficit being trimmed to eight, but running on fumes by the fourth quarter, Mt. Abram was forced to coast to the finish line while Boothbay was able to hit the turbo boost one last time. For full story

by Kennebec Journal...FARMINGDALE -- After playing to overtime and double overtime in two previous meetings this season, did anyone expect anything other than a close game between the Boothbay and Hall-Dale girls basketball teams Tuesday night? The Mountain Valley Conference rivals didn't disappoint, as this one went to the wire again with Hall-Dale pulling out a 59-58 victory, its third straight over the Seahawks. for full story
