By Paul Betit...AUGUSTA — Sixth-seeded Old Orchard Beach knocked No. 3 Boothbay out of the Western Class C boys' basketball tournament for the second time in three seasons, cruising to a 78-48 win in a quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center Monday afternoon. The victory sent the Seagulls into a regional semifinal Thursday night against No. 2 Waynflete, a team they've lost to twice this season. for full story

By Sun Journal....JAY — Spruce Mountain wasn't missing much from 3-point range, so Boothbay had little choice but to test the Phoenix free throw shooting late in Monday night's Mountain Valley Conference boys' basketball clash. After Ben Dickinson's 3-pointer pulled them within four late in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks tried to extend the game by sending Spruce Mountain to the charity stripe. But the Phoenix made 12 of 15 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to hang on to a 69-60 win. for full story

If the Dirigo boys’ basketball team plays as well as it did Wednesday night, nobody in Class C will beat the Cougars this winter, anywhere.
