SANFORD — Alex Shain made his last game at Cobb Stadium count, as he rushed for five touchdowns to lead Sanford to a 34-7 victory over Windham on Friday.
Shain saved his best game of the season for senior night, and he started it off with a 65-yard touchdown run on Sanford’s first possession. Shain took a sweep to the left and zigged and zagged his way to the end zone.
“I had blocks down field, and I was just working my way around it. I had open space, and I just made a play,” said Shain, who finished the game with 276 yards on 25 carries.
Equally as impressive as Shain and the Spartan offense was the play of the Sanford defense. It had a tough assignment to try and stop Windham’s dual threat quarterback, Damien Shepard, but the Spartans rose to the challenge.
