SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Lisa Truesdale is quite happy to have her team back in the role of underdog.
It’s a role that served the Marshwood High School field hockey team well last year en route to the program’s first-ever Western Maine Class A championship. The Hawks won the title from the fifth seed in a tournament where the first four seeds were upset in the quarters. They beat No. 7 Portland for the title, 4-1.
This afternoon at 1:30 on Cape Elizabeth High School’s turf field, No. 3 Marshwood (13-2) will meet No. 2 Cheverus (14-1) in the regional semifinal. No. 1 Scarborough will host No. 4 Westbrook in the other semi. The two winners will play in Tuesday’s regional final at Scarborough.
