McCue, a 19-year-old arts freshman who plays for the basketball Redmen, was named tournament MVP and led the Redmen to three come-from-behind victories at the RBC Brock Classic last week, extending the team's win streak to eight consecutive games. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard scored 56 points with eight rebounds, six assists and six steals. He shot 46.5 per cent from the floor (20/43), went 10-for-26 from three-point range and made all six attempts from the free-throw line. He scored a career-high 23 points in an 81-68 win over Queen's on Friday, then added 15 more in a 69-66 decision over Brock on Saturday, sinking a pair of free-throws with 5.1 seconds remaining to give McGill their only lead of the game. On Sunday, McCue poured in 18 points in an 85-69 win over Regina. He enrolled at McGill this fall after graduating from Hampden Academy.
