ME: Basketball (Girls)
BY MATT DIFILIPPO..BANGOR -- Every basketball team wants a point guard who can run the offense, stay calm and handle pressure. The Nokomis girls have two of them. With junior Julie Smith and sophomore Mary Badeen conducting the show Saturday afternoon, the Warriors were able run everything from the fast break to the four corners. Combined with Nokomis' defense and rebounding, it added up to a 46-32 victory against fifth-ranked Medomak Valley in an Eastern B quarterfinal at the Bangor Auditorium.

By Ryan McLaughlin..ROCKPORT, Maine — It was 40-29 midway through the fourth quarter, and it looked like the Camden Hills girls basketball team’s eight-game win streak was going to stretch to nine. But nobody told that to Lacy Massengale of Medomak Valley. The Panthers’ sophomore scored 10 of her game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning free throws with 26.8 seconds remaining as the visitors from Waldoboro ended the contest on a 21-7 run to earn a 51-47 KVAC Class B victory Friday night.

ME: Basketball (Girls)
By Kevin Mills..TURNER - Before the opening tip even began, all Adrie Newton could do was look up. She wasn't gazing skyward in anticipation of the ball. She was gawking up at Medomak Valley's 6-foot-2 center Ericka Christensen. The Leavitt 5-9 forward knew she had a tall task ahead of her Friday night.
