Teams and Tryouts

Find a team for your son or daughter to play on

MBR will offer 2 ways for your son or daughter to find a team to play on
1. We will communicate with all teams to see if they are in need of a player of your sons or daughter age

MBR Club director Tom Nolette has been involved with AAU basketball since 1993. We started the Maine Hoops club, AAU summer tourneys, director of AAU states from 1996-2000 when Maine had its largest number of teams enrolled, started the fall leagues, etc... One of the things we strive for is quality instruction and competition and helping young people grow through sport. We are excited about the coaches coming on board..

CMCC College head basketball coaches Dave Gonyea, Andrew Morong and assistant Sarah Morris will coach the older teams for MBR L/A.

Steve Stewart, Brian Crockett and Glynn Ross are all experienced and will coach the MBR W/M teams

Tryouts: We'll have a 90 minutes workout. We'll speak with parents and players before and after. If we have players, but not coaches, we will work with you to help find a coach or find a team for your son or daughter... This has been an effective way to work together to create quality playing opportunities..

We are looking forward to working with you and your parents to assist you in your development and evolution as a player.. Please do not get caught up in all the hype that others will tell you to get you to play with them.. In May, (phase 2, if you will ) we will then look at putting teams to travel out of state for exposure and the experiences that go with that..

We have helped many players and parents along the way and the best advice I can give is to focus on getting better with your skill-sets and the rest always works it way out Jon Gilson jon@mbr.org
