So is Miks Antoms sticking around in Orono? Have we heard anything on him?

"L": Nothing. Still 12 scholarship players on roster now for 2019-20 and with one scholarship available.

I know I had nothing to base it on. I've never spoken to the kid and never asked Richard Barron about his status, but it just seemed like he is not a Barron type player and would be leaving.

"L": Other than Eze can you think of any other scholarshipped international player (not including Canadian players) that have transferred in the past 5 years? Eze is a grad transfer and maybe Maine didn't have what he wanted for a grad program? The international scholarshipped players seem to be very appreciative and loyal and thankful to have a scholarship here in the states.

When I saw Antom's Lee Prep highlight films 3 years ago I thought he was really going to be an effective BIG for the AE.

Maybe he just needs to play more consecutive minutes so he can relax.

Unless they get an immediate BIG that can help out they should give him a chance in the non-conference schedule next year. Nothing to lose.

He only played 9.3 minutes per game in 2017-18 and 7.4 mpg this year. The one chance he got to play 21 minutes this year he had 9 points on 4-6, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Sometimes a player needs to be on the floor substantial minutes to be effective and to get a feel for the game and seeing he is the biggest player Maine has physically at 6'8" 245lbs unless they get a BIG that can help immediately I'd play him in the non-conference games to see what he can do if he gets substantial minutes.

Seems like he would be a very coachable player.

If Antoms leaves, it'd be a pretty big surprise.

First, I can't imagine he'd get any other full scholarship offers at the D1 level.

Second, his HS/Prep coach is an assistant on the team.

Sidebar: Bob, I'd love to hear what kind of evidence you have that Miks is a very coachable player, or that he seems like one. What kind of stories do you have from sources familiar with the team of how he works in practice, his attitude, his ability to implement instruction into his game play? I'm all ears.

UMSF: A good friend of mine from Orono who knows basketball has watched him in practice the past 2 years and says it appears he is coachable (he can be coached, but to me he has to yet to be developed or used correctly as a BIG in the two years he has been at Maine by two different staffs) and neither was Vincent Eze. Eze got better because he got GAME playing time and the more he played the better he got as the season progressed. Too bad he is transferring.

Almost 33.3% of the roster last year went gone thru Lee Prep.

Maine has Saskatchewan, Canada lead guard Adefolarin "Fofo" Adetogun on campus for an OV. 6'0, 190+, springy athlete, built like a fire hydrant. He looks like if Aaron Calixte got really into body building.

First reported by North Pole Hoops on twitter. NPH says he is a mid major contributor immediately (I asked).

He holds no current offers (http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/ad ... n-adetogun)

It appears he's played at a couple of different high schools, the most recent being The Edge School. Seems like they play a pretty competitive Canada Prep schedule.

What happened to "he doesn't have any other D1 offers so he can't be a D1 player?"
Looks like a double standard to me.

Yeah....He has what they say is a "D1 ready body". I wonder why the lack of offers? Then again...he probably wouldn't be available if he had some.

No double standard. This kid appears better than “undervalued and overlooked” in-state talent.
