good point lovethegame...

reffan just got off the phone with a tourney official and reffan asked him about how the "officials" votes go...

He said, it is exactly as i mentioned. He said you get a list of officials from your board and you rate them, yes, no or I don't know and send it to Webb. He says you have to do it, and when you send it back to Webb it is from his email address and he knows for a fact that Webb knows who it is because this year Webb sent a note back to him thanking him (with his name on it)

So Devin Reffan is right about the officials requirement....

you would hope that officials wouldn't "black ball" other officials but humans are humans.....it is not a secret of Webb's hatred of Boomer.....could look real good in God's eyes if you have the same feeling for him.....

reffan will keep digging!

don't think he qualifies....no way he does 15 games.....

although he would be perfect for today's board, he has to be pushing 60...

best in state??? Mertzel, Boomer, and McInniss would disagree!

reffan: Wouldn't bet the farm on it. Harder to get then anything on Clinton, Obama, the FBI or the Justice Department.

"Just sayin".

My friend got a letter and he is in. He says it takes 9 votes by coaches to be selected. He is retiring after 17 years and pleased to get in this last year. He confirmed Reggie and Poochie both done and 4 others. He also said from the meeting, refs are not split be boys/girls season games done.

This is what the reffan knows:

A. Boomhour worked at least 15 games
B. He was on the list sent to his peers to be voted on. (which means he is good standing with his local board)
C. He got wide spread coaches support.
D. He did not get the Golden Ticket

Which means Boomhour did not get enough "peer" support.

*A real good friend of the reffan and someone who knows alot of the inside stuff going on, on AARP 21....said the peer support rule is referred to as the "Boomer rule" the rule was created to make sure that Boomer will never appear in the tourney again.

**and you know something....reffan actually admires Webb...if he set this up...he is a genius....when a coach or an administrator confronts him on why the best ref in Maine is not doing games...he doesn't have to die on the sword...he can say he did not get enough "peer" support.

seems Webb has some "reffan" in him......

reffan made a mistake....

reffan reported that Johnny "Metro" Coyne got a Golden Ticket....sorry, reffan found out he in fact did not get one.

He got the email that told him he made the "Unified" league of tournament officials.

Guess the email looks sort of the same, Metro must have been so excited he did not read it carefully...so John went to Webb's meeting Saturday at Gorham middle school.

Halfway through the meeting.....Webb said "Coyne, what are you doing here?" "The Unified officials meeting is in two weeks".....Coyne had to stand up and walk out of the meeting.....

what was even worse....the bus he took didn't return to South Portland for an hour....he had to walk to the School St. Pub......

I received a list of over 200 officials who were tournament eligible, I do not recall seeing Boomer on the list. Certainly a referee that is deserving.

Carl,

that is reffan's point...you wouldnt see Boomer's name if he did not survive the peer voting....

If Boomer's name is passed on to the coaches he would be the top vote getter (except for Mertzel)
no way then could God keep from not using him...

with the "Boomer rule" (peer voting) he now has a reason to say...sorry coaches....Dan did not meet the requirements...

someone asked Reffan last night..."hey reffan, what do you think the number of no's are needed to be X'd out of the tournament?" easy reffan answered.....how many Executive Board members are there? ....find that out and that will be your answer!
