#2 Stony Brook Unanimously Tabbed 2018 #AEWLAX Favorite
BOSTON – After nearly reaching the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Final Four in 2017, Stony Brook is the unanimous America East favorites in 2018. The voting was conducted by the conference’s eight head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own teams.

Stony Brook, which is ranked 2nd in the both preseason national polls after going 20-1 last season, received all seven possible first-place votes and 49 points. Albany, which received an NCAA at-large bid last year, came in second with 41 points while UMBC earned 39 points and the final first-place vote. Here is the full poll:

Wildcats Fall to Monmouth, 10-8

DURHAM, N.H. – With the game tied at 8-8, Alexa Smith scored the game winner for the Hawks as the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team fell to Monmouth, 10-8, on Monday at Bremner Field.

Senior Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) posted two goals and one assist for three points for the Wildcats, while seniors Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Teagan Northrup (Longmeadow, Mass.) each scored two goals.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats will return to action when they start America East play with a game at UMBC on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m.

Blanding's Four Goals Propels 'Cats Past UMBC, 11-9

BALTIMORE – Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N.Y.) scored the last two goals of the game to lift the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Saturday afternoon's 11-9 victory against UMBC at UMBC Stadium.

Blanding, who scored a career-high four goals for a personal best of four points, broke the 9-9 tie at 3:20 and struck again with 56 seconds remaining. Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) recorded one goal, two assists, five draw controls and two ground balls. Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) was UNH's other multiple-point scorer with two goals.

Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) was credited with eight saves, four ground balls and a caused turnover. Lizzie Suschana (Somers, Conn.) helped anchor the defensive effort with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

UMBC was led offensively by Sara Moeser (4g, 2a). Kelsey Major made 11 saves.

UNH improves to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in America East. UMBC is now 7-3, 0-1.

The Matchup: Hofstra
UNH has an 8-11 lifetime record against Hofstra and that includes last year's 13-10 home loss to the Pride. • Recap • Box Score
In that game, the Wildcats trimmed a 10-4 halftime deficit to 12-9 with 6:26 remaining but they could get no closer the rest of the way.
These teams have met annually since the 2013 season and the home team has won four of five matchups, with last year being the only exception.
The last time UNH won at Hofstra was April 1999 (12-6); the Pride have won all five home games in the 2000's.

The Matchup: Hartford
Saturday's game will be the inaugural meeting between the New Hampshire and Hartford women's lacrosse programs.

Sennott Records Two Goals, Assist in 17-7 Loss at Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Rebecca Sennott (Westford, Mass.) recorded two goals and an assist but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated 17-7 by Hofstra University at James M. Shuart Stadium on Thursday night.

The two goals and three assists matched personal bests for Sennott, as did her six draw controls. Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) both finished with a goal and an assist.

Starting goalie Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) recorded 10 saves and exited the game with UNH trailing 15-6 with 10:00 remaining. Amanda Gottlieb (Canton, Conn.) was credited with one save and surrendered two goals.

Hofstra was led offensively by Alyssa Parrella (6g, 3a) and Katie Whelan (5g). Maddie Fields made 10 saves.

UNH is now 3-6 while Hofstra improves to 6-4.
