Ogwuche Nets Career-High 19 Points in 69-68 Loss at Maine

BANGOR, Maine – John Ogwuche (Makurdi, Nigeria) scored a career-high 19 points but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was edged by the University of Maine, 69-68, at Cross Insurance Center on Wednesday night.

Ogwuche made 6 of 11 field goals, including 3 of 7 3-pointers, and was 4-for-5 from the foul line; he netted 14 points in the second half. Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) scored 18 points and pulled down a team-high five rebounds. Darryl Stewart (Atlanta, Ga.), whose last-second 3-point shot went off the back of the rim, finished with six assists, five rebounds and four points.

Maine was led by Aaron Calixte, who hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 21.3 seconds remaining. He recorded 24 points (9-20 FGs, 3-9 3's), four rebounds and three assists.

UNH, which had won six straight vs. the Black Bears, is now 8-13 overall and 4-3 in America East. Maine is now 5-17, 2-5.

UNH took an 18-17 lead in the all-time series vs. Binghamton with a 71-67 victory against the Bearcats earlier this month at Lundholm Gym. New Hampshire has won each of the last eight meetings with a 13-3 edge the past 16 matchups.

Iba Camara became UNH's career rebounds leader Jan. 21 as he surpassed the previous benchmark of 897 held by Dave Pemberton as well as the 900 milestone. His record stands at 904 career rebounds.

Tanner Leissner has 1,784 career points and needs 77 points to tie UNH's scoring record of 1,861 held by Al McClain (1980-84).

UNH is ranked in the Top 20 in the nation in two statistics: No. 7 in rebounding margin (+8.2) and No. 15 in free throw percentage (77.1%).

UNH is atop the America East leaderboard in seven statistics, including – defense (65.5 ppg), defense field goal percentage (.419) and 3-point defense FG percentage (.313).

UNH has two losses by one point this season, and the Wildcats are 3-6 in games decided by less than five points.

Jacoby Armstrong is approaching 1,000 career points; he's at 984.

Camara's 20 Rebounds, Leissner's 20 Points Lifts 'Cats Past Binghamton, 57-52

VESTAL, N.Y. – Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) recorded 20 rebounds and Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) scored 20 points to lift the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to Saturday afternoon's 57-52 victory against Binghamton University at Events Center.

With UNH leading 55-52, Camara pulled down his 20th rebound of the game off the defensive glass with four seconds remaining and Leissner hit two free throws with 0.8 on the clock to secure the victory.

Camara matched his career highs in both rebounds and blocks (three); he also had seven points, including two when he both ends of the 1-and-1 from the foul line with 1:13 remaining to give UNH a 52-50 lead.

Binghamton was led by Tyler Stewart (14p) and Willie Rodriguez (10p, 7r).

UNH, which completed the series sweep of Binghamton for its ninth straight win in the series, improved to 9-13 overall and 5-3 in America East. The Bearcats are now 10-13, 1-7.

Wednesday night's game is a matchup between two teams tied for third place in the America East standings, one game behind UMBC.

UNH has a 27-41 lifetime record against Hartford, but the Wildcats have won each of the last six meetings.

Iba Camara broke a record that stood for almost 46 years when he became UNH's all-time rebounding leader and surpassed 900 career rebounds Jan. 21 against Stony Brook. His benchmark is at 924.

Tanner Leissner has 1,804 career points, which ranks second on the UNH all-time leaderboard. He needs 58 points to break the scoring record of 1,861 held by Al McClain (1980-84).

Camara Records Double-Double in 79-62 Loss to Hartford

DURHAM, N.H. – Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) scored a team-high 16 points and Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) recorded a double-double, but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 79-62 by the University of Hartford on Wednesday night at Lundholm Gym.

Leissner has been UNH's top scorer in 17 of 23 games this season. Camara recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) also scored in double digits; all 12 of his points were on 3-pointers. Elijah Jordan (Orlando, Fla.) had six assists in 18 minutes off the bench.

Jason Dunne netted a game-high 24 points on the strength of 6-for-8 shooting from 3-point range. J.R. Lynch (17 points), John Carroll (12) and Jack Hobbs (11) also scored in double digits. George Blagojevic pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

UNH is now 9-14 overall and 5-4 in America East. Hartford, which has lost six straight to the Wildcats, improved to 13-10, 6-3.
