Wildcats to Take on BU at the Whitt

BLUE OUT BU: The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team returns to Hockey East action when the Wildcats host Boston University at the Whittemore Center on Friday, Jan. 12, at 7:00 p.m. The game will be "Blue Out BU" so make sure to wear your UNH Blue to support the Wildcats versus one of the nation's top programs!

DOLLAR DOG NIGHT: Hot dogs will only be $1 on Friday night at the Whittemore Center versus the Terriers. "Dollar Dog Night" will also be on Jan. 26 versus the UConn Huskies and Feb. 24 versus the Northeastern Huskies.

Wildcats Fall to BU, 3-2

DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman Eric MacAdams (Salem, Mass.) and senior Jason Salvaggio (Hanson, Mass.) each posted a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, while senior goaltender Adam Clark (Sherwood Park, Alberta) made a career-best 35 saves as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Boston University, 3-2, on Friday night at the Whittemore Center.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, Jan. 14 as they hit the road to play No. 16 Boston College at the Conte Forum at 1:00 p.m.

NEXT HOME GAME (UConn-Jan. 26):
After UNH plays two games at Maine on Jan. 19-20, the Wildcats will return to the Whittemore Center on Friday, Jan. 26, to take on UConn at 7:00 p.m. The game will be First Responders Night and hot dogs will only be $1. There will also be a Coach Umile Milestones Poster giveaway. Tickets can be purchased at the Whittemore Center Box Office, online at UNHWildcats.com or by calling 603-862-4000.

Wildcats Defeated By #16 BC, 5-2

HOW IT HAPPENED
BC opened the scoring at 14:08 of the first period. Graham McPhee knocked in the puck from right in front of the net on the lower glove side of senior goaltender Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) off a breakaway.

UNH got on the board at 18:27 of the first period as Maass sent a wrist shot from the left face-off circle to the upper glove side of Joseph Woll for a power-play goal. Senior Michael McNicholas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and freshman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) added the assists.

The Eagles struck early in the second period at 1:11 as David Cotton sent a one-timer from the slot past the glove side of Tirone, with assists from Logan Hutsko and Michael Kim to make the score 2-1.

BC extended its lead to 3-1 at 5:16 of the second period when JD Dudek netted a one-timer over the high stick side with Casey Carreau and Christopher Grando dishing the assists.

At 14:24 of the second period, McPhee scored his second goal of the game for the Eagles, pouncing on a loose puck to put BC up 4-1.

The Wildcats cut the deficit to 4-2 at 17:13 of the second period when junior Ara Nazarian (Boxford, Mass.) netted a low stick-side goal off a tipped pass from junior Marcus Vela (Burnaby, British Columbia) and sophomore Anthony Wyse (Newton, Mass.)

Jacob Tortora scored off assists from Grando and Dudek at 14:06 of the third period for the final score of 5-2.

Wildcats Tie Maine, 2-2

HOW IT HAPPENED
Maine took an early 1-0 lead at 3:25 of the first period when Patrick Holway fired a wrist shot from the top of the left face-off circle to the upper corner of the net on the stick side.
UNH outshot Maine, 9-8, while the Wildcats went 0-1 on the power play and the Black Bears went 0-2.
Daniel Perez gave the Black Bears a 2-0 lead at 17:33 of the second period when he scored off a rebound from a shot by Cedric Lacroix.
With just 3.3 seconds remaining in the second period, Salvaggio scored as he tipped a shot by freshman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas). Junior Marcus Vela (Burnaby, British Columbia) also posted an assist on the goal.
Maine outshot UNH, 15-8, while each team went 0-2 on the man-advantage.
At 1:08 of the third period, MacAdams sent a one-timer from the slot past Maine goalie Jeremy Swayman. Salvaggio and Gildon each tallied an assist.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the game-winner as the contest ended in a 2-2 tie.

Wildcats Skate to 3-3 Tie with Maine

ORONO, Maine – Freshman forward Charlie Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded one goal and two assists for three points as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team tied Maine, 3-3, on Saturday evening at Alfond Arena. Last night, the two teams skated to a 2-2 tie.

These rivals will meet for the third time this season on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Durham, N.H., for "White Out The Whitt." Tickets can be purchased at the Whittemore Center Box Office, online at UNHWildcats.com or by calling 603-862-4000.

The Wildcats are now 7-0-2 versus the Black Bears over the last nine meetings.
