Columbia 69 Maine 39 with 11:09 TO GO IN GAME. Columbia led at the half 46 to 27. Another poor day from beyond the arc for Maine as they were 3 for 13 at the half.for 23%. Looks like a blow out win for 1-10 Columbia as they will snap their 9 game losing streak if they win. Maine will have lost their 7th in a row (NCAA's don"t count UMPI and UMM wins in RPI's). Will have final game results as soon as box score is posted. Not able to watch game on line as it is a pay deal $9.95 instead of watching it listening to it on 1230am radio. Not even having Live Stats available.

Columbia had 4 players in double figures while Maine had 2 Calixe with 19 who also broke Skip Chappelle's long standing record of 32 consecutive foul shots made when he hit his lst foul shot of the game to set the record at 33 and then increased it to 34 after making the second fou shot, Vern Lowndes off the bench had 11.
Maine drops to 1-12 vs. D-1 competition and 3-12 overall and Columbia snapped their 9 game losing streak to go to 2-10 with one game left in their non conference schedule.
Same old same old. Living and dying by the 3. 1 life and 12 deaths versus D-1 opponents. No inside-outside game, no inside-outside game to get open 3's, no dribble penetration and kick outs to get open 3's. Double figure minutes for double figure players. Poor foul shooting, poor 3 pointing shooting and poor man-to-man defense (some zone maybe?) Play game from shoulders down, relying on the players athletic skills with is the reason for poor basketball IQ's which leads to poor basketball decision making which leads to poor shot selection because Walsh allows the players to decide who shoots, where the shoot from and when they shoot, more turnovers, poor assist to FGM's % and increased charging fouls and defensive fouls..
The only light at the end of the tunnel is that the rest of schedule is against the weak America L'east conference teams which is the 27th ranked conference in RPI and the next to last S0S (Strength of Schedule) of 32 D-1 conferences.
Maine completes it's non conference schedule and looks for to their opening America L'east Conference schedule when they visit Stonybrook next Wednesday January 3rd.
