Latest UMAINE basketball teams/conf RPI Rankings

The latest UMaine men's and women's team basketball and AE Conference RPI rankings as of right this time are below:

Realtimerpi.com Team and Conference RPI Rankings

Maine Women's Team RPI 165 (3-4) of 349 teams
America East Conf. RPI Rankings 24th of 32 conferences

Maine Men Team RPI Ranking 301 (1-7) of 351 teams
America East Conf. RPI Rankings 27th of 32 conferences
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Pomeroy Team RPI Rankings for Men
Maine 334 RPI Ranking of 351 teams
Non available for women's teams/conferences
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The games tomorrow against non-D-1 opponents women vs. Maine Maritime Academy and men vs. UMaine @ Presque Isle will not count in the final RPI rankings to select and seed teams for the "Big Dances" of March Madness in March/April.

However, the statistics for non D-1 non-conference games for teams and players will count.

Figure that out if you can. The only thing about this NCAA policy is that 2 out of 3 is not bad, but that it shows that the only thing that is consistent about these policies is that the NCAA is consistently inconsistent in this policy making.

Either count all 3 together or don't count them at all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you think? 1. count them all 2. don't count them all 3. is it OK the way it is right now 4. Doesn't matter one way or another???????????????????????????????????????????????????

#3 because of #4. There is no compelling reason why there should be a one-to-one mapping between games counted in the RPI and games counted by the NCAA for official team records and individual statistics.

MaineBBFan99: Thanks for your answer.

However, I would say it is compelling because the non-D1 opponents are weaker then the poorest D-1 teams as Maine at realtimerpi.com 301 and Pomeroy's 334 in RPI's show that weak D-1 teams have an easier time in beating non-D-1 teams so thus their statistics and wins would be higher then against D-1 teams especially with UMaine's men's low rating and the women's middle of the pack ranking 165 and also the weakness and low conference RPI rankings based on mostly strength of teams schedule in the conferences.
along with the individual teams strength of schedule that determines a teams RPI.

Easier to pad and fatten teams win-loss records and teams and players stats against non d-1 teams that against D-1 opponents. That is why I feel that the wins, losses and stats should not count. Remember, there are D-1 D-2 D-3 NAIA1 NAIA2 Junior Colleges and USCAA levels of college basketball. Usually the lower the level the easier is to gain wins and pad stats.

To me that is compelling enough, but that is just my opinion and "opinions are like noses everyone has one" or "Different basketball strokes for different basketball folks" or " What floats you basketball boat may not float my basketball boat".
