Delaware just lost a heartbreaker to Towson 18-17 after leading the entire game. It's gonna be Survivor Saturday in Portland! :)

Lots of surprising results yesterday. Towson beating Delaware, Elon beating Villanova, Stony Brook over Richmond, and even Rhody beat Albany yesterday. There's going to be a fine line between 5-3 and 4-4 in the CAA, although the parity of the league may be enough to get four or five teams in the FCS playoffs.

Looks like JMU & Elon....and then a dogfight between UNH, Maine, Delaware, Villanova & Stony Brook for 2-3 other spots.

Off the field, I'm intrigued to see how this Portland thing goes. From a game operations standpoint, to say I'm not optimistic is an understatement. The band is in portable bleachers in the end zone due to the concern that the game will "sell out". I despise the idea of giving up home games to play at high school venues. There's a reason we haven't played in Portland in 12 years.

Is there any chance the game will actually "sell out"?

Should be plenty of seats available for this game.

Maine's defense should keep them in every remaining game. I would like to see a few more explosive plays from the offense, but limiting risky downfield plays seems to be part of the winning formula for this team. Ferguson has done a good job managing the game lately and has avoided the costly interceptions that hurt the team earlier in the season. Delaware is a strong team with a winning record. Maine needs to prove themselves against a team with a winning record. I think Maine will squeak this one out 17-14.

The Bonny Eagle-Thornton game is at the same time and actually will draw people away from Fitzy. Granted, they may have no concept of the caliber of football they're choosing, but it's still frustrating to think about how people will choose a high school game over a game between two Division I schools fighting for their playoff lives.

Prepping for Portland: UMaine football team set to tackle Delaware

...The coach is looking for more consistency from the offense.

“(Ferguson) has been up and down. He hasn’t turned the ball over the last two weekends which has been huge and has helped us get two wins,” said Harasymiak, who wants his team to finish off drives.

“We don’t just want to survive the game, we want to be great. We had too many negative (yardage) plays and those are too hard to overcome against the defenses we see week in and week out.”

The offensive line exemplified UMaine’s ability to deal with adversity. Senior Dan Burrows filled in for the injured Christopher Mulvey at center and true freshman Liam Dobson and sophomore Samuel Cooper filled in for the sidelined Cody Levy.
