Maine native Theriault wins number six
Six, yup SIX wins for Fort Kent, Maine’s Austin Theriault

Six wins this season puts Austin Theriault firmly in the lead in the ARCA Racing series Driver’s Championship. Theriault leads second place Dalton Sargeant by 410 points going into the final three races of the 2017 season.

Theriault credited the Ken Schrader Racing team crew chief Donnie Richeson with his leadership role in the win. The work at the shop has been ongoing as the team prepares the race cars for the busiest part of their 2017 schedule. That type of effort depends on organization and innovation which the team has shown can be done.

Anyone who has been or is involved with motorsports know that behind the glitz and glitter of race day, there has been hard work performed by a dedicated group of individuals working toward a common goal. Successful racers know that races are often won in the garage before the race car leaves.

Theriault closes in on ARCA title

Finishing well is what Fort Kent’s Austin Theriault needs to do for the remaining two races on the ARCA schedule. With a lead of 375 points, it is time to try some tactics which will result in a win.

The move that Christopher Bell made on the green-white-checkered last lap of the Chicagoland race was incredible! Eighth to first was a sight to behold. Granted he was on new tires, however, that type of move is a display of what a future NASCAR top-tier racer will try.

Theriault, in my opinion has the racing acumen typified by a driver like Matt Kenseth who hangs around, hangs around until the end. All of a sudden you notice him knocking on your rear bumper

New Brunswick stock car racer to contest Speedway 660 2018 late model title

The reality of racing Pro Stock

When I first met the Messer family (Robb & Penny and their son Ryan) from Harvey, New Brunswick I was mowing the infield grass at Spud Speedway in Caribou. They were at the track to get in some practice laps before their Atlantic Modified race the next day.

I had to work on another project and Penny offered to assist me in preparing the track by finishing mowing the infield while Robb and Ryan worked on the race car in the pits. She donned her hearing protectors and proceeded to do a great job.

I offered her a job as my assistant groundskeeper, however, she did not think the commute from Harvey would make economic sense.

County drag racer finishes season strong

County drag racer finishes season with a flourish

Crouseville drag racer Gene Cyr finished the 2017 drag racing season with a second and a third place finish. The second came at Oxford Plains Dragway September 29 when Cyr finished second in an eleven car field. His 6.17 second E.T. at 112 mph at the 1/8 mile track was Cyr’s best time of the night

A broken oil pan meant he was done for the weekend, so he and his father towed home on Saturday. Once they were home, the pan was welded and the car prepared for the next race weekend at Winterport Dragway.

Cyr and his father loaded up their Mustang and headed out to the central Maine Winterport Dragway for a two-day event. The T & L Gamblers class which Cyr competed in, featured 30 entrants for the Saturday race.
