Terion Moss Offered D-1 Scholarship by Maine

Per WMTW, Terion Moss has been offered a full ride at the University of Maine. It's his only dividison one offer thus far, but man, good for him.

Hard work pays off, Terion. Keep working and the offers could keep coming.

"TAaliday": Thanks for the information and congratulations to Terion Moss. But, what happens to the offer to UMaine if Walsh is not back after his contract expires this season?

Very risky for any freshmen to sign with any school if there is a possibility that the signing coaching staff and head coach is not back, because the incoming player(s) do not know how they fit into the plans if there is a new head coach and staff coming in.

Also, any Maine high school player who really wants to be an impact D-1 player by the time they are sophs in D-1 college ball usually needs to go to prep school for a year as they will probably get more D-1 offers and will know exactly where they stand in regards to the level of D-1 they as players really belong by the teams that offer the player the most scholarships in the same level of D-1.

Plus, it gives the player another year to mature and improve, get used to being away from home, longer and harder practices, the travel to road games and the chance to move up the D-1 ranks as a potential recruit.

Also, if any Mainer cannot get a scholarship to a prep school in Maine or New England then they probably are not D-1 material.

Of course, most of the college recruiters want players to go to prep school because they may improve so much that they go higher up the skill level chain in the RPI rankings team and conference wise if they go to prep school and the offering school could lose the player to a higher rated RPI team playing in a higher ranked conference in RPI.

Just my opinion.

more on Moss:

UMaine men's basketball "likely" to offer Portland star Moss

...A source indicated early Wednesday Moss received an offer from UMaine, which was followed by a tweet from Moss' AAU program, Blue Wave Basketball.

Shortly after, a high-ranking source within the Maine basketball program indicated to ABC 7 and Fox 22 Moss has not received a formal offer from the program at this time, though UMaine does have heavy interest in the Bulldog. They said the team will be meeting with Moss in the fall, and said he is "likely" to receive an offer of sorts. The staff is said to be "very high" on him.

Shortly after this, the AAU program deleted its tweet claiming he had received the offer.

Portland High remains the 2nd oldest high school in the country. My research could not find where a PHS male basketball player went D1. Coach Russo's Hall of Fame career may add one more check to the greatest boys coach in the history of Bulldog Nation. Expect to see the UMO coaching staff at numerous Bulldog games early in the season.

My prediction says Terrion gets the offer due to quality of character and Joe Russo's resume' plus his god given talent. Modern day version of the Baron of Van Buren rises again.
