Former Black Bear Bates excited to be a Patriot

...Last Friday, surrounded by fans who had seen him grow up a Black Bear, Bates expressed gratitude for his new home.

"It's been amazing," he said at the Lobster Bowl banquet. "Obviously the elite coaching. The elite players I get to share a locker room with. Just being able to compete with those guys every day. And the fact that I'm home. It's just an amazing blessing for me and my family."

John Bapst names former UMaine player Ed Jones boys basketball coach

BANGOR - Ed Jones was an instrumental part of the 1994 University of Maine squad that nearly went dancing for the first time, and now, he'll have a chance to lead a struggling program to a tournament of their own.

John Bapst tabbed Jones to take over as head coach for the boys basketball program this season. Jones will replace Rick Sinclair, who left for Hermon to become their new athletic director. No stranger to coaching in Maine, Jones also served as an assistant for UMaine, and led the MCI prep team in the past as well.

Troy Barnies again in Pakson!

Last summer's turn seems to turn over to Troy Barnies in this off-season as the second ex-solenoid dresses again in red and blue. Of course, our Pacha fans are remembering our recent certification, as it was just a year ago certified by Szolnok. Three-and-a-half-placed, two-meter high US 13 points and 6 rebounds averaged two years ago, while in the lessons of the behind-the-glass season we scored 11 points on average and 5.5 rebounds in the championship. In the colors of the Szolnok team this year, Hungarian Cups won silver.

Team Leader Jan Pavlik commented on the justification: "Welcome Pakson Troy again, we trust that it will be an important part of both the pitch and the pitch. It is a multiplayer, experienced, experienced player who can help our team in many ways. Good luck for him and of course the ASE team! "

Teo Cizmic also talked a bit about Barnies: "I believe we have been able to prove the excellent player in Troy, who knows the Hungarian championship well. I've talked to him several times, he is very motivated."

Troy's Announcement from his Instagram Page:

Happy to announce for my 7th season as a professional, I will be returning to Atomerőmű SE férfi kosárlabda in the Hungarian Basketball League! Excited to get between the lines again and fight with my guys!

Former UMaine basketball player Troy Barnies to stay in Europe

HUNGARY - In 2007, Troy Barnies was named Mr. Maine Basketball for his outstanding performance as a senior with the Edward Little Red Eddies. He would ultimately go from there to the University of Maine, where he would sustain himself as a quality America East hand who showed the potential to play professionally.

Not long after that, Barnies would find himself playing in Europe, and he's been there ever since 2011. Now, it appears he'll be there even longe
