Maine Men's and Women's Track Teams Compete at Holy Cross, Men Win, Women Third
ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine Track and Field teams competed at Holy Cross on Saturday. The women's team finished in third with 81 points, while the men's team won with a point total of 172.
In the shot put, fourth-year Ashley Donohoe finished in second with a top-throw of 12.51m. Donohoe also finished in third in the discus with a top-throw of 44.05m, and eighth in the discus with a top-throw of 34.27m.
Third-year Rachel Bergeron finished in second in the discus with a throw of 37.53m. Bergeron later won the hammer throw with a top-throw of 58.11m. In the javelin, second-year Brianna Degone finished in third with a throw of 34.83m.
In the long jump, second-year Ariel Clachar won with a jump of 5.61m. In the pole vault, fourth-year Kayla Marquis and second-year Olivia Wallace tied for fourth with a top-vault of 2.75m. Clachar was on the Black Bears' 4x100m relay team that finished second with a time of 48.63.
First-year Cassidy Hill finished in second on the 4x100m team while also finishing in fourth in the 100m with a time of 12.61. Hill also finished in fifth in the 200m with a time of 26.36. In the 800m, first-year Tiffany Turner finished in third with a time of 2:18.44.
Second-year Lauren Magnuson won the 200m with a time of 25.78. Magnuson also was on the second-place 4x100m relay team. Maine finished in third in the 4x400m with a time of 4:03.37.
On the men's side, third-year Jeremy Frantz won the shot put with a top-throw of 14.76. Third-year Adam Lufkin finished in second with a throw of 13.90m. Lufkin also finished in second in the discus with a throw of 42.39m. The discus was won by fourth-year Shane Corbett with a top-throw of 44.94m. Corbett finished in second in the hammer throw with a top-throw of 42.33m.
Third-year Kelby Mace won the javelin with a throw of 58.97m. First-year Erick Seekins finished in third in the long jump with a jump of 6.19m. In the high jump, first-year Troy Davis won with a jump of 1.90m, followed by fourth-year Asaad Hicks who finished in second with the same height.
Maine's 4x100m relay team finished in first with a time of 43.19. In the steeplechase, fourth-year Levi Frye won with a time of 9:29.01, followed by second-year Simon Powhida, who finished with a time of 9:40.41. In the 1500m fourth-year Jacob Johns won with a time of 3:56.43. Third-year Logan Moses finished in third with a time of 4:02.59.
In the 400m, fourth-year Jake Osborn finished in first with a time of 50.10, followed by fourth-year Joseph Slattery with a time of 50.26. In the 400m hurdles, third-year Isaac Yeboah won with a time of 55.90. Third-year Elijah Yeboah finished in third with a time of 56.65. In the 200m, third-year Mozai Nelson won with a time of 22.79, followed by fourth-year Joseph Slattery with a time of 23.16.
Second-year Aaron Willingham finished in first with a time of 14:54.02, followed by third-year Joshua Horne with a time of 14:57.48. The Black Bears' 4x400m relay team won with a time of 3:24.88.
