COLBY: MEN'S VARSITY 8 CREW NINTH AT NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Colby College men's varsity 8 placed ninth overall and third in the Petite Final at the New England Rowing Championships on Saturday.

The Mules had a time of 6 minutes, 47.113 seconds behind the rowing of Lily Wain (coxswain), Abraham Hill (8), Ethan Ashley (7), Liam Rex (6), Luke Yasuda (5), Fred Bower (4), Bix Komita Moussa (3), Jeff Endler (2), and Chris Spellman (1).

The men's second varsity 8 boat made the Grand Final (places 1 to 6) and took sixth place in 7:11.241. The Mules won the third heat of the day in 6:59.681, defeating Wesleyan, UMass-Amherst, WPI, and Amherst.

Allyson Redhunt (coxswain), Jake Abbe-Schneider (8), Roger Stone (7), Ben Swift (6), Christian Papadellis (5), Robbi Melvin (4), Henry Holtzer (3), Makoto Kinoshita (2), and Christopher Marcello (1) were in the boat for Colby.

Colby's third varsity 8 was one of seven boats in the Grand Final and placed sixth (no time available). Tomotaka Cho (coxswain), Michael Stone (8), Seamus Mulcahy (7), Connor Smith (6), William Sideeri (5), John Olson (4), John Coffman (3), Parker Sikora (2), and Tim Harris (1) rowed for the Mules.

COLBY: WOMEN'S VARSITY 8 CREW 10TH AT NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Colby College women's varsity 8 placed 10th overall at the New England Rowing Championships on Saturday.

The Mules had a time of 7 minutes, 50.100 seconds to take fourth place in the Petite Final (places 7 to 12). Colby had finished third in a heat earlier in the day with a 7:51.634 clocking.

Susannah Donoho (coxswain), Elli Mapstone (8 spot), Eliza Mushinski (7), Libby Huber (6), Emily Muller (5), Katelyn Hamilton (4), Sophia Bartels (3), Ellie Krossa (2), and Bobbi Alman (1) were in the boat for the Mules.

Colby's second varsity 8 boat placed eighth overall and second in the Petite Final with a time of 8:23.858. The time would have beaten sixth place Tufts University in the Grand Final.

Rowers for Colby included: Riley Karp (coxswain), Katy Donchik (8), Lydia Larson (7), Alexandria Lucas (6), Ling MacLean (5), Amanda Deming (4), Annie Byrnes (3), Helen Watson (2), and Maddie Andrews (1).

Colby's third varsity 8 boat of Anita Guaman (coxswain), Caroline Stetson-Dibble (8), Lucy Weaver (7), Alessandra Grossman (6), Lillie Watson (5), Kate Burke (4), Helen Carroll (3), Alison Obstler (2), and Charlotte Jones (1) placed seventh in 5:55.073 in a time trial.

The third varsity 8 'B' boat took 11th place in the 6:09.967 with Eleanor Parker (coxswain), Monica Colmenares (8), Anya Parauda (7), Andie Velazquez (6), Sarah Rossien (5), Anna McClean (4), Kate Blauer (3), Emily Visco (2), and Sammy Attia (1) in the boat.

The Mules beat Ithaca College and Coast Guard Academy in the Petite Final. The Mules were less than two seconds behind ninth place RIT (6:13.460).
