COLBY: WOMEN'S VARSITY 8 BOAT FOURTH IN RACING

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Colby College women's varsity 8 placed fourth of five boats, but was about two seconds out of second place in 2,000-meter racing Saturday.

The Mules had a time of 7 minutes, 5.68 seconds behind Susannah Donoho (coxswain), Elli Mapstone (8), Eliza Mushinski (7), Libby Huber (6), Emily Muller (5), Katelyn Hamilton (4), Sophia Bartels (3), Helen Watson (2), and Bobbi Alman (1).

The crew of Riley Karp (coxswain), Katy Donchik (8), Lydia Larson (7), Alexandra Lucas (6), Ling MacLean (5), Amanda Deming (4), Annie Byrnes (3), Alison Obstler (2), and Maddie Andrews (1) placed third out of five boats in the women's second varsity 8.

The women's third varsity 8 placed third with Anita Guaman (coxswain), Alessandra Grossman (8), Lucy Weaver (7), Kate Burke (6), Lilly Watson (5), Emily Visco (4), Helen Carroll (3), Zoe Daniel (2), and Charlotte Jones (1).

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Colby College men's varsity 8 placed third out of five crews in racing over 2,000 meters on Saturday.

The Mules had a time of 6 minutes, 13.42 seconds in an 18-mile per hour cross tail wind. Colby finished ahead of University of Massachusetts and Hamilton College. WPI won the race in 6:02.48 and Wesleyan University was second in 6:05.41.

Rowers in the varsity 8 were: Lily Wain (coxswain), Abraham Hill (8 spot), Ethan Ashley (7), Liam Rex (6), Luke Yasuda (5), Fred Bower (4), Bix Komita Moussa (3), Jeff Endler (2), and Dan Spellman (1).

The men's second varsity 8 of Allyson Redhunt (coxswain), Makoto Kinoshita (8), Jake Abbe-Schneider (7), Roger Stone (6), Christian Papadellis (5), Ben Swift (4), Henry Holtzer (3), Robbi Melvin (2), and Christopher Marcello (1) finished in fourth place in 6:28.74.

The third varsity 8 boat had a time of 6:43.63 behind the rowing of Tomotaka Cho (coxswain), Michael Stone (8), Seamus Mulcahy (7), Connor Smith (6), William Sideri (5), John Olson (4), John Coffman (3), Parker Sikora (2), and Tim Harris (1).

COLBY: NO 12 WOMEN'S CREW DEFEATS NO. 10 WILLIAM SMITH

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The 12th-ranked Colby College women's crew defeated 10th-ranked William Smith and took third overall out of five teams on Saturday on Lake Quinsigamond.

Ithaca, ranked fifth nationally, won the women's varsity 8 race in 6:40.31, while ninth-ranked WPI was second in 6:50.43. University of New Hampshire placed third (6:56.14). The Mules came in at 6:57.13, just ahead of William Smith (6:57.64). Trinity, ranked 14th, was last in 7:21.24.

Racing in the Cotter boat for Colby were Susannah Donoho (coxswain), Ellie Mapstone (8), Eliza Mushinski (7), Libby Huber (6), Emily Muller (5), Katelyn Hamilton (4), Sophia Bartels (3), Ellie Krossa (2), and Bobbi Alman (1).

The second varsity 8 boat of Riley Karp (coxswain), Katy Donchik (8), Lydia Larson (7), Helen Watson (6), Ling MacLean (5), Amanda Deming (4), Annie Byrnes (3), Alexandria Lucas (2), and Maddie Andews (1) placed third out of five boats and had a time of 7:07.11. Ithaca took first in 6:59.57 and WPI was runner up at 7:06.24. The Mules beat UNH, William Smith, and Connecticut College.

The rowers in the third varsity 8 placed fourth out of six boats in 7:30.39. Anita Guaman (coxswain), Caroline Stetson-Dibble (8), Lucy Weaver (7), Alessandra Grossman (6), Lily Watson (5), Alison Obstler (4), Helen Carroll (3), Andie Velazquez (2), and Charlotte Jones raced for the Mules.

The Mules had a fourth varsity 8 boat take third in 8:01.02 out of three boats. Eleanor Parker (coxswain), Monica Colmenares (8), Anya Parauda (7), Kate Burke (6), Kate Blauer (5), Emily Visco (4), Sarah Rossien (3), Anna McClean (2), and Seltzer (1) rode for the Mules.
