COLBY: REID, MURAD GO THREE SETS AGAINST FIFTH-RANKED CHICAGO
CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Colby College's Carl Reid and Vlad Murad both went three sets in tough losses to players from fifth-ranked University of Chicago in a 9-0 loss on Monday in California.
The 37th-ranked Mules are 5-2 overall and will play at Caltech on Tuesday at 2 p.m. (EST). Colby also takes on St. Lawrence at 7 p.m. at the same site.
Reid lost 6-3 in the opening set to Nicolas Chua, but the Colby senior battled back for a decisive 6-1 win in the second set. Chua won a 7-5 tie-breaker to earn a 7-6 win in the third set.
Murad lost a tough 10-8 tie-breaker in the opening set. The senior sent it to three sets with a 6-3 win, but Charlie Pei won 6-0 in the final set.
