Khudobin delivers for just his second win of year

For a long stretch of the second period, when his team was outshot, 15-3, Anton Khudobin was excellent.

When Alex Burrows’s shot from behind the goal line slipped in with 0.6 seconds remaining on the clock in the second, Khudobin was not good.

But over a 60-minute window Saturday afternoon, Khudobin was good enough to backstop the Bruins to a 4-3 win over the Canucks, which is all the Bruins have asked of the backup and fellow No. 2 Zane McIntyre.

Bruins pound Canadiens to continue win streak under Bruce Cassidy

The Bruins will surely lose a game under interim coach Bruce Cassidy one day, but right now it certainly looks like he’s been able to instill a winning vibe into a team that could never stand success for too long earlier this season.

The B’s earned their third straight win in as many games under Cassidy, this time practically embarrassing the archrival Montreal Canadiens, 4-0, at the Garden last night.

The Bruins took a 3-0 lead into the third period on goals from Adam McQuaid (even strength), Zdeno Chara (shorthanded) and David Krejci (power play) and then put the hammer down at the 5:00 mark of the third.

Julien’s move to enemy sets Boston up for misery

Wade Boggs. Roger Clemens. Adam Vinatieri. Johnny Damon. Ray Bourque. Mike Haynes. Jim Plunkett. Theo Epstein. Bill Ranford. Sam Gash.

Yes, we know there are more.

They are all sporting types who left Boston under varied circumstances and would win championships in New York, Indianapolis, Colorado, Chicago and elsewhere.

Marchand's OT goal helps Bruins beat Sharks 2-1

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Even a week off for a bye couldn't slow the rolling Boston Bruins under interim coach Bruce Cassidy.

Brad Marchand scored on a breakaway with 2:24 left in overtime and the Bruins picked up where they left off before their break by winning their fourth straight game, 2-1 over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night.

"This is a really hard building to win in and they've been playing well lately," Marchand said. "With five days off, it's not easy to come back here and feel good. It wasn't always pretty, but we got the two points. That's all that matters."

Khudobin boosts Bruins

LOS ANGELES -- David Pastrnak scored the go-ahead goal in the second period to help the Boston Bruins to a 4-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center on Thursday.

Brad Marchand, Dominic Moore and David Krejci scored for the Bruins (31-24-6), who won for the fifth time in six games under coach Bruce Cassidy. Backup goalie Anton Khudobin made 27 saves in his first start since Feb. 11.

The Bruins lost 5-3 at the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

Bruins beat Stars 6-3 to end winning trip

DALLAS (AP) — Patrice Bergeron and the Boston Bruins kept surging under interim coach Bruce Cassidy, moving up in the race for the playoffs that begin in mid-April.

For defenseman Johnny Oduya and the Dallas Stars, the immediate future is much more uncertain.

Bergeron had two goals and an assist as the Bruins beat Dallas 6-3 Sunday, improving to 6-1 since Cassidy took over for the fired Claude Julien. Boston completed a 3-1 road trip.

Bruins win 4-1

BOSTON (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes got word from the hospital after the second period that center Alexander Burmistrov seemed to be doing OK.

By then, it was too late for them to get back into the game.

Riley Nash scored a short-handed goal after Colin Miller was ejected for a bone-rattling hit that sent Burmistrov off on a stretcher, and the Boston Bruins pulled away with a three-goal second period to beat the Coyotes 4-1 on Tuesday night.

Bruins Look Like Old Selves In Loss To Lundqvist, Rangers

BOSTON (CBS) – Every plotting mastermind has an arch-nemesis and Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy met his match Thursday: The King.

New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves to hand the Bruins their first home loss in five games under Cassidy, 2-1 at TD Garden.

It was the Bruins’ second loss under Cassidy in nine games.

Surging Bruins edge Devils 3-2 on Spooner’s goal

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins had a goal pulled off the board and allowed a tying one seconds after a weird stoppage.

Very few things seem to bother them lately, though, since interim coach Bruce Cassidy took over.

Ryan Spooner scored midway through the third period to lift the Bruins over the New Jersey Devils 3-2 on Saturday night for their eighth victory in 10 games under Cassidy.

Senators 4, Bruins 2: B’s lose crucial division showdown

OTTAWA, Ontario — Mike Hoffman had a power-play goal early in the third period and the Ottawa Senators defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 on Monday night.

Derick Brassard, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, and Alex Burrows also scored as the Senators extended their winning streak to three games. Craig Anderson made 25 saves.

Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand scored for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask made 25 saves.

Ottawa has a four-point lead on the Bruins in the Atlantic Division, and has played two fewer games than Boston.
