Based on geography and the upset by 18-8 SUNY New Paltz over 1 seed SUNY Geneseo I think that most likely eliminates UMD (90 SOS) and WPI (135 SOS) , leaving only 3 at-large bids for the WBB Northeast Region ( 2 out of the NESCAC & 1 out of the LEC ). Hope I'm wrong.

SOS rules the day. Let that be a lesson for future scheduling.

Great stuff Countryboy. Really enjoy your posts. Would like to add that my alma mater, Nichols College, in beautiful Dudley, MA, will participate in their first NCAA tournament in MBB, having won the CCC tournament. Go Bison!

Husson men get matched up with the #1 team in D3. Is NAC really the weakest conference in the east?

Geography plays a huge part in where a d3 team plays in NCAA tourney. Once the 64 get selected, they won't fly teams if at all possible. Would have been great to see Hudson go to Middlebury or jersey but the 4 team pods have a lot to do with distance. Trinity in Texas gets screwed a lot. Not many d3 teams around them. Also factor in if it is the men's or women's turn to host. If both get in from same school, they won't put both tourneys at one school.

MBB #1 ranked Babson (25-2) hosting unranked Husson (21-6)

winner plays either unranked Skidmore (19-7) or #21 New Jersey City (21-7)

15 teams out of the Northeast region, with 7 of those being at-large teams (4 from the mighty NESCAC)

I'm not sure why 19-8 Becker or 17-10 Salem St were not assigned to #1 overall Babson unless geography played a roll perhaps? Seems odd though.

New rankings due out later today. Babson lost yesterday, so undefeated Whitman will probably be the new #1

They should probably be playing at Amherst, switching with Keene State, who lost in their conference playoffs.

12 Northeast region WBB teams get in. At-large bids go to NESCAC Tufts, Bowdoin, & LEC's ECSU, UMD. WPI (23-5) 135 SOS kept them on the sideline's... OUCH!

St Joe's draws #4 ranked Tufts (25-2), while UNE gets #19 ranked Scranton (24-3). Husson plays DeSales (20-7), and Bowdoin draws SUNY NEW Paltz (18-8)

Husson women get a much better matchup despite having a much weaker SOS than the men. Bowdoin not at home but looks like they have a decent shot at getting to the sectionals.

Of the Maine contingent of teams participating in this year's dance I agree that Bowdoin has the best chance of advancing to the next round(s) with SUNY New Paltz (18-8) Fri 5p, and Ithaca (24-3) in the the Ithaca pod.

Somebody must like the Husson WBB team, because they get a relatively winnable game vs DeSales (20-7) out of the Atlantic region.

Wouldn't be surprised that having the Husson men playing only 21 miles away at Babson may have played a part in the Tufts site selection. Good for Husson fans though.

UNE heads to Scranton (24-3) Fri 7p tip, which will be a tough matchup. St. Joe's at Tufts (25-2) will not be pretty, as Tufts Defense is smothering, with their only losses coming to top ranked and undefeated Amherst by scores of 36-35 & 41-37.
