ELLIOTT HAS FINE DAY DIVING FOR COLBY WOMEN

AMHERST, Mass. -- Colby College diver Alicia Elliott had her best meet and first-year Maria Armillei had a strong debut for the Mules in a 172-103 loss at Amherst College on Saturday.

Elliott finished second in both 1-meter diving (174.67) and in 3-meter (154.27). Meanwhile, Armillei took second in the 50 freestyle (25.45) and third in the 100 freestyle (56.70).

"(Diving coach) Doug Hall and I are thrilled with Alicia's achievement and her significant improvements on the boards over the past year," Colby head coach Tom Burton said. "Maria had a strong first collegiate meet and we are excited to see what she can achieve this year."

Abigail Taylor-Roth had a second in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.48) and Tyra Daruwalla had the same finish in the 100 butterfly (1:02.32). Katie Discipio was third in the 100 butterfly (1:02.43) and Madi Keohane took third in the 200 backstroke (2:18.29).

MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING OPEN SEASON WITH SOLID TIMES

AMHERST, Mass. -- John Pintauro won both diving events for the Colby College men's swimming and diving team in a 151-115 season-opening loss at Amherst College on Saturday.

Pintauro won the 1-meter board with 205.65 points to earn nine points and was the lone diver on the 3-meter board with a score of 179.10.

Carter Garfield took second in the 200 individual medley (2:02.95), third in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.54), and fourth in the 100 freestyle (49.76). Kyle Wong posted his second-fastest dual meet 100 breaststroke in his collegiate career.

Jacob Tower had a second in the 50 freestyle (22.79) and teammate John Blackburn took third with a 22.81. Both times were their best in the event before the winter break. Hugh Jacobsen posted his fastest dual meet performances in three years in the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM.

First-year swimmer Xander Geiersbach took third in the 200 backstroke and also had a solid performance in the 100 backstroke. Fellow first-years Wyatt Fritz (200 butterfly) and Matt Jones, (100 butterfly, 200 backstroke) also had fine debuts.
