Thomas' Tre Ming to Play in PDL This Summer

WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas men’s soccer player Tre Ming has been selected to play in the United States Soccer League Premier Development League (PDL) this summer for IMG Academy out of Bradenton, Florida.

The PDL is the highest level of soccer a college player can compete in without signing a professional contract and losing his eligibility. Division I powerhouses such as North Carolina, Notre Dame, Maryland, Wake Forest and Ohio State all had players compete in the league in years past.

Ming, who transferred to Thomas after one season at Elmira College (NCAA DII) where he was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, tallied six goals, a team-leading eight assists, and 20 points for the Terriers this past fall.

Ming joins fellow countryman Casey Castle, Drewonde Bascome, and Jaylen Harvey to join the IMG Academy squad.

Scott Dean, IMG Director of Soccer, said, “We are excited to have four of Bermuda’s finest footballers join the IMG PDL team for the 2014 season. This just further strengthens the great working relationship that exists between IMG and the BFA.”

Ming becomes the second player in Thomas men’s soccer program history to play in the PDL, as former teammate and fellow Bermudian Mikkail Crockwell previously played for the now defunct Bermuda Hogges.

“We are very proud of Tre and his great accomplishment.” Said Thomas Head Men’s Soccer Coach Chris Parsons. “The PDL is a proven feeder program for professional soccer in and outside the United States.”
