Summer volleyball programs will benefit YHS teams

...The camp wasn’t the only way the York volleyball team has improved since its inaugural season a year ago. Bradley said seven of her players participated in a club team during last school year, even before the 40 girls who participated in summer programming.

In addition to their in-house program, York also participated in the Saco Summer League, with some of the more experienced players. Those matches took place every Monday night, while the less experienced players still met in York to continue building their skills.

“Any time that girls play beyond the high school season, it really helps,” she said. “Seeing this level of commitment from them is exciting because it will only make us better.”

Not only that, but it has also drummed up more support for the program. Bradley said she has about 20 incoming freshmen looking to get involved in the program, and that increased level of interest means that they have been able to start a First Team, to go along with the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams.
