Pirates lose to Norfolk in shootout
Portland forces overtime with a goal in the closing seconds but still suffers its eighth straight loss.

LEWISTON — The Portland Pirates started their final homestand of the season Sunday afternoon by suffering their eighth consecutive defeat, but they didn’t go down easily. Pirates season finale moved from Lewiston to Saco
After a scheduling standoff with the Kora Shrine Circus, the team opts to play it out at the 400-seat MHG Ice Centre in Saco.

Portland loses 5-4 to finish with an 11-game winless streak.

SACO — The Portland Pirates played the last game of their season Saturday night on the ice where they’ve spent the most time this season, but it didn’t make any difference. The St. John’s IceCaps scored three third-period goals to pull out a 5-4 victory as the Pirates finished the season with an 11-game winless streak and the worst record in the AHL.
