5) Top level play in boys’ lacrosse
No local boys’ lacrosse team won a championship this spring, but that doesn’t mean that play wasn’t at a top-notch level. Falmouth, the defending Class B champion, opened the season with a 27-goal outburst against York and enjoyed an early come-from-behind win at rival Cape Elizabeth, but later in the season, the Capers won at Falmouth and as a result, earned homefield advantage for Act III, the regional final, where Cape Elizabeth built a 6-1 lead and held on for dear life to end the Yachtsmen’s season, 6-5. Yarmouth struggled at times against the state’s elite powers during the regular season, but when the Class B North playoffs began, the Clippers couldn’t be stopped, as they won a pair of road games en route to a fifth straight regional final. 3) Cape boys have no peer
From the get-go this spring, Cape Elizabeth and Falmouth’s boys’ lacrosse teams were on a collision course for Class B supremacy. The Yachtsmen, who had upset the Capers in last year’s regional final en route to a championship, repeated that feat in an early season thriller, but in the rematch, at Falmouth...

1) An OT state final for the ages
While the game ended in defeat, Scarborough’s boys’ lacrosse team performed heroically on the evening of June 17 in the Class A state final versus Brunswick. Scoring goals was never a problem, as the Red Storm produced 17

Forecaster: Lacrosse All-stars were plentiful this spring-Portland edition

The SMAA boys’ lacrosse all-conference first-team included Deering senior middie Nate Richards.

Cheverus attack Max Coffin, middie Finn Cawley, defenseman Kieran Conley, longstick middie Patrick Griffin and goalie Sean Walsh, Deering defenseman Machar Nguany and utilityman Chase Walter all made the second-team.

Cheverus defenseman Jason Halvorsen, Deering middie Nick James and Portland attack Reilly O’Brien were honorable mentions.

Forecaster:: Boys’ lacrosse All-stars were plentiful this spring-Northern edition

The WMC boys’ lacrosse first-team included Falmouth senior attack Jack Scribner, junior middie Nate Arrants, junior defenseman Brendan Hickey, sophomore longstick middie Riley Reed and senior goalie Liam Tucker, along with Yarmouth junior middie Cooper May and sophomore defenseman Jake Rogers.

The second-team featured Falmouth senior attack Devin Russell, junior faceoff specialist Spencer Pierce and junior defenseman Emmett Zinn, Greely junior defenseman Andrew Eckhardt and Yarmouth junior attack Henry Venden and senior defenseman Patrick Mallett.

Forecaster:: Boys' Lacrosse All-stars were plentiful this spring-Southern edition

Class B boys’ lacrosse state champion Cape Elizabeth placed five players on the WMC first-team, as senior attack Owen Thoreck, junior attack Tate Perkins, senior middie Connor Thoreck, senior faceoff specialist Cole Spencer and senior defenseman Ben Ekedahl were all honored.

Cape Elizabeth junior middie Finn Raymond, senior defenseman Peyton Weatherbie, junior longstick middie Ethan Avantaggio and senior goalie Sam Price made the second-team.
