Record: 1-2 Next Game: Wednesday, November 7 Washington Wizards 7:30 p.m.

WASHINGTON (AP) — After his Boston Celtics held the Washington Wizards to 1-for-14 shooting at the start, then scoreless for nearly 3 minutes at the end, coach Doc Rivers spoke about ‘’great defensive intensity.’’

‘’Defense,’’ he said, as if to underline the point, ‘’is exhausting.’’

Wizards guard Jordan Crawford offered another explanation for the way things went in Boston’s 89-86 victory over Washington on Saturday night.

‘’We’re forgetting plays,’’ Crawford said.

3-3 Next Game: Monday, November 12 @ Chicago Bulls 8:00 p.m.

Celtics 96, Bucks 92

Key Moment

Some people may have felt that Jeff Green hadn’t had the impact they expected from him this season. Halfway through Saturday night’s clash with the Milwaukee Bucks, some observers may have stuck to that opinion.

That was before the fourth quarter, of course, when the game was on the line and Green silenced his critics.

The Celtics headed into the final frame of Saturday night’s matchup trailing by four points. Milwaukee’s Monta Ellis was having a superb shooting game and the Bucks were grabbing offensive rebounds left and right. It would have been easy to lose faith in pulling out a victory, especially after a solid string of play to start the third quarter was negated by an 11-2 Milwaukee run. Someone had to step up for Boston.

Brandon Bass led off the fourth quarter with a crafty layup before a turnover gave possession back to The Celtics. Then Green went to work.
