Rob Gronkowski: Super Bowl changes lives

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was a guest on ESPN Radio's "SVP and Russillo" program on Wednesday, with part of the discussion tied to the ESPN Madden Ultimate Team vote.

But things started with what Gronkowski has been doing since the Patriots' victory in Super Bowl XLIX.

Vince Wilfork says Patriots won’t pick up his option

Patriots free-agent fit: Cornerbacks

Fifth in a multipart series on free-agent fits at various positions leading into the start of free agency March 10.

Position: Cornerback

layers under contract for 2015: Kyle Arrington (2016), Brandon Browner (2016), Malcolm Butler (2016), Alfonzo Dennard (2015), Logan Ryan (2016), Dax Swanson (2015),

Level of need: Moderate to high

Projected top targets: Kareem Jackson (Texans), Darrelle Revis (Patriots)

Why Jackson fits: A 2010 first-round draft choice of the Texans, he played under Nick Saban at Alabama, has extensive starting experience in the NFL, and is in the prime years of his career. At 5-foot-10 and 188 pounds, he doesn't fit the profile of the taller, longer cornerback that the Patriots trended towards in 2014, which could make some question the fit. But he could also have some position flexibility and would factor into the special teams mix as well.

Why Revis fits: He's arguably the best in the game. His fit was seen on a day-in and day-out basis -- on and off the field -- in an excellent 2014 season with the Patriots. He pretty much changed everything for the Patriots' defense.

McCourty back to Pats on 5-year deal

om hitting the free-agent market Sunday when free safety Devin McCourty agreed to re-sign with the team.

The deal, which was first reported by Fox Sports, is for five years and $47.5 million, with $28.5 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN.com's Mike Reiss.

McCourty confirmed the agreement Sunday night on Comcast SportsNet.

"I'm blessed to say we had other teams that were interested but I said all along that I knew in my heart that I wanted to be back in New England. But I also knew the business side of football, and I had to do what I had to do. I'm back, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't possibilities over the last two days that I was going to be somewhere else. I'm happy it all worked out."

Devin McCourty deal shouldn't restrict Patriots with Darrelle Revis

Things move fast in the National Football League. So fast, in fact, that the news of safety Devin McCourty's five-year contract with the New England Patriots was still just minutes old when questions started coming rapid fire about its potential trickle-down effect on another possible deal.

The question: How might McCourty's extension affect the team's ability to strike a deal with cornerback Darrelle Revis?

Our answer: It shouldn't affect it much, if at all.

Is today the day for Darrelle Revis clarity?

Will the major storyline hovering over the New England Patriots' 2015 team-building plans -- cornerback Darrelle Revis' future -- come to its end point today?

That's the burning question that leads off the day, as NFL free agency officially begins at 4 p.m. ET. Specific to Revis, the Patriots have declared their intentions to him that they will not be picking up his 2015 option, which was expected. But the team did not officially submit that decision to the league, so the Patriots retain exclusive negotiating rights with Revis up until 4 p.m.

Giants reportedly 'serious' about Shane Vereen; Patriots check in on Roy Helu

The New York Giants have shown "serious interest" in signing New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen, the New York Daily News reports, citing a source. The source cited by the Daily News noted that a Vereen deal with the Giants could be possible soon after free agency begins at 4 p.m. ET.

The Giants have missed out on a few of their early targets in free agency, which might shift their focus to Vereen, per the report.

Meanwhile, the Patriots have considered contingency plans in the event they lose Vereen, which is standard operating procedure. As first reported by Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal, they checked in on Washington running back Roy Helu. The team's level of interest in Helu is unclear, but the fact they reached out indicates there is at least some consideration he could be part of a fallback plan.
