Pats struggling to stay unbeaten
Tight wins over the lowly Jets and Bills -- where is last year's high-powered offense for New England?
By HOWARD ULMAN

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots have used a balanced offense in becoming one of just eight unbeaten teams.

Both their running and passing games have struggled.

Tom Brady's rookie receivers have plenty to learn and their performances show it with wrong routes and dropped passes...

Bucs may be better than their 0-2 record
With a supersized QB, an explosive RB and a fine receiver, Tampa Bay won't be a pushover for the Pats.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Rookie quarterbacks haven't exactly made life simple for New England's defense this season.

The Patriots finally will face a veteran Sunday, though, and they're quite familiar with Tampa Bay's Josh Freeman.

"I didn't realize how big he was," New England defensive end Rob Ninkovich said. "Until you see him in person, you realize he's 6-5, 6-6."

Brady, Patriots prep for familiar foe in Revis
Brady's challenges Sunday include the Patriots' depleted receiving corps and his old nemesis, cornerback Darrelle Revis.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Darrelle Revis haunted and taunted Tom Brady and New England's offense at least twice a year for the past six seasons before the New York Jets traded him to Tampa Bay in April...

Brady, young receivers show progress in win over Bucs
By Mike Shalin

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Tom Brady knows his connection with his rookie receivers is a work in progress, even after positive signs in the New England Patriots’ 23-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. But all things considered, and with all the weapons he’s lost, the New England quarterback ...

Ninkovich, defense get Pats to 3-0
The defensive end proves invaluable to the Patriots after trials and tribulations with previous teams.
By HOWARD ULMAN

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Rob Ninkovich feared his career might be over before the New England Patriots gave him a chance in 2009.

He hurt his knee as a rookie three years earlier, was waived four times and had no backup plan if his NFL hopes ended.

Brady blames himself for Patriots' red-zone woes
The Patriots may be 3-0 but it's not because of what they've done inside the 20-yard line.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Tom Brady bent forward and put his hands on his knees in frustration. Then he stood up, slapped both sides of his helmet and jogged off the field.

He had just thrown an interception in the end zone, his third straight bad pass with the ball at the 6-yard line.

No, rookie receivers aren't the only players responsible for the New England Patriots' problems in the red zone...

Atlanta vs. New England: Balance of power favors Falcons
Though just 1-2, Atlanta boasts an offense that can move the ball along the ground and in the air.
By HOWARD ULMAN T

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Vince Wilfork's job might be easier without Steven Jackson charging at him

That doesn't mean the Patriots' defensive tackle wants the Falcons' running back to miss Sunday night's game.

Wilfork figures if New England beats a team that's at full strength, no one can question the victory...

Falcons' Ryan has Patriots worried
With a premier QB and receiving corps, the Falcons can soar against any defensive secondary.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England's Tommy Kelly doesn't expect Atlanta to run the ball that much Sunday night.
The Patriots defensive tackle is so certain the Falcons will primarily pass, he's focusing solely on quarterback Matt Ryan.

"That's their offense," Kelly said Friday. "You got a top-five quarterback, two big-time receivers, Hall of Fame tight end, they're going to throw the ball.

Only the Patriots' record is perfect
Tom Brady and Co. no longer are lighting up the scoreboard, and they'll be put to a test vs Atlanta.
By PAUL NEWBERRY The Associated Press

ATLANTA - Tom Brady usually makes it look so easy.

Year after year, he churned out staggering offensive numbers with such regularity it was hard to envision much of a drop-off, even when he lost two of his most trusted receivers.

But here we are, three weeks into the season, and Brady is struggling to get in sync with his new guys.
