FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The perception of wide receiver Danny Amendola in New England took a dramatic turn in the second half of the Patriots’ Week 1 victory at the Buffalo Bills. So, too, did the Patriots’ record after the first week of the season. Entering his first regular-season game replacing ...

New England turns to veterans in opener

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- With the game on the line, Tom Brady got the ball to his experienced players.

The rookies already had wasted their chances in the season opener.

Another three days of work may not help as the New England Patriots prepare for Thursday night's game against the New York Jets.

Smith quickly immersed in rivalry
The Jets' rookie QB must be as composed against the Pats as he was in his Sunday debut vs. the Bucs.
By HOWARD ULMAN

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Geno Smith was 10 years old when Tom Brady played his first game against the Jets. On Thursday night, New York's rookie quarterback makes his debut in the rivalry with the New England Patriots.

He's hoping for a better result than Brady had.

In his second season, Brady replaced an injured Drew Bledsoe in the fourth quarter of the second game in 2001. The Jets won 10-3.

By Mike Lowe
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Tedy Bruschi never held in his emotions when he played linebacker for the New England Patriots. But Thursday night he had a tougher time maintaining his calm.

Pats’ offensive woes continuing

Two weeks into the season the New England Patriots offense is clearly not trending in the right direction. Everyone knew things might be a bit bumpy for the normally high-powered New England passing attack early on in what’s clearly a transitional year. Dating back to July, Tom Brady has consistently ..
