NFL Roundup: Chiefs thump the Eagles as Reid returns a winner

PHILADELPHIA - Andy Reid's coaching return to Philadelphia was a success Thursday night as he guided the Kansas City Chiefs past the Eagles, 26-16.

The Chiefs' defense forced four turnovers and sacked Michael Vick six times, 41/2 by linebacker Justin Houston. Kansas City (3-0) has won more games already under Reid than it did all of last season...

NFL Week 3 at a Glance
BUCCANEERS (0-2) at PATRIOTS (2-0), 1 p.m.

Outlook: The Patriots have won their two games by a combined five points, while the Bucs have lost theirs by a combined three points, proving that the margin of error in the NFL is at times paper thin. New England has won 31 of its last 34 home games and should safely sputter to its first 3-0 start since 2007.

Television: FOX

The pick: Patriots, 24-13

TEXANS (2-0) at RAVENS (1-1), 1 p.m.

Outlook: Both teams have much to prove,

NFL Notebook: Lions lose receiver in car mishap

ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Two days after a victory that for this franchise was downright historic, the Detroit Lions are facing another dose of adversity.

Receiver Nate Burleson broke his arm in a single-car accident early Tuesday after he reached over to keep two pizza boxes from falling off the front passenger seat, authorities said. Coach Jim Schwartz stopped short of writing off the rest of Burleson's season, but surgery is scheduled for Wednesday...

Peyton's place, more than ever
Peyton Manning may be 37, but he appears to be on the way to the best season of a storied 16-year career.
By ARNIE STAPLETON

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Peyton Manning is only getting better with age.

Those surgical scars on his neck are starting to fade like all those fears he might never be the same quarterback -- or even play again -- after his right arm shrank from a damaged nerve in his biceps two years ago.

After attacking his rehab as doggedly as he assails defenses, Denver's 37-year-old quarterback is making it..

49ers rediscover offense, roll past Rams 35-11
By Bucky Dent

ST. LOUIS — San Francisco’s offense needed less than six minutes of the second quarter to do what it couldn’t accomplish in its last two games: Score two touchdowns. Getting the balance they haven’t had since a season-opening win over Green Bay, the 49ers evened their record at 2-2 Thursday ...

Falmouth native a Falcons fan for a reason: Her husband's the QB
Sarah Marshall grew up rooting for the Pats – then came BC and a guy named Ryan.
By Mike Lowe

The New England Patriots game Sunday night at the Georgia Dome against the Atlanta Falcons is being billed as a possible Super Bowl preview by some.

For others, the stakes are much higher.

"It wouldn't be bad to go home to Maine next summer with some bragging rights," said Sarah Ryan.

Sarah Ryan is the wife of Matt Ryan, quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons. She is also one of the best...
