Patriots’ Danny Amendola talks about new team

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Neither quarterback Tom Brady nor head coach Bill Belichick met with the media at the New England Patriots’ first open organized teams activities workout of the offseason on Tuesday. NFL: Agent says surgery likely last on Gronkowski's forearm

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Rob Gronkowski’s agent says the tight end’s latest surgery is expected to be the last on his forearm.

The New England Patriots’ star had his fourth surgery on Monday on the left forearm that he broke on Nov. 18 while blocking for an extra point against the Indianapolis Colts. He broke it again early in the Patriots’ first playoff game, a win over the Houston Texans.

Tebow ‘very thankful’ to be Patriot
.
FOXBOROUGH — In his usual terse tones, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick blandly said little or nothing to promote Tebowmania Tuesday in his first press conference after the team signed controversial quarterback Tim Tebow.

“Anything we do is what we feel is in the best interest of the team,” Belichick said. “Tim is a talented player, smart, works hard, so we’ll see how it goes.”

NFL: Belichick in no rush to judge Tebow

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- One day of practice wasn't enough for Patriots coach Bill Belichick to share his thoughts on new backup quarterback Tim Tebow.

Two days?

Not a lot to go on there, either, as Tebow spent much of Wednesday's session watching Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett run drills while he tried to absorb the new system he was thrust into when he signed with New England this week.

"We're not going to get into a minute-by-minute evaluation of a player," Belichick said. "I don't think that's the way to go, especially at this time of year."

Patriots offseason disastrous, but Maine fans still optimistic

Ever since they lost the AFC championship game, New England has endured one distraction after another. But fans in Maine still trust in Brady and Belichick.

By Eric Russell

Months ago, the New England Patriots were poised for supremacy in the National Football League. But a promising season that ended with a thumping defeat in the AFC championship game has been followed by one distraction after another.

First, popular and prolific wide receiver Wes Welker followed dollar signs to Denver, and overachieving fan favorite Danny Woodhead left for San Diego. Then, tight end Rob Gronkowski had a series of surgeries, putting his 2013 season in jeopardy, and the team stunned its fans by signing New York Jets castoff Tim Tebow, perhaps the league's most polarizing player.

NFL: Tight end now up in air for Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- The New England Patriots seemed set for years at tight end with their young, record-breaking combination.

Aaron Hernandez ran around defenders after catching the ball. Rob Gronkowski ran over them.

Tight end was one position coach Bill Belichick could rely on.

Not anymore.

The Patriots cut Hernandez a few hours after he was arrested Wednesday. Later that day, he pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in connection with the death of an acquaintance, Odin Lloyd, who, prosecutors said, was shot to death on June 17.

Getting tight with Tebow is an option
With Hernandez jailed and Gronk hurting, the Pats could reposition a polarizing QB.
