Bangor Fire Department hosts annual Red Sox Alumni game

t's the first official weekend of summer, and while high school baseball season is over, Mainers are still taking the field, hoping to use the diamond for good. The Bangor Fire Department held its annual charity baseball game against a Red Sox alumni team.

"It's a great night, and a great event," said 22-year Bangor Fire Department veteran Randy MacDonald. "Every year, we do this game for 'Bangor Professional Firefighters IAFF #772.' We do a lot with [several charities], and we love doing things like this in the community."

Former Fenway stars such as Bill Lee, Sam Horn and several others made the trip to Mansfield Stadium in an effort to raise money for charity. Despite the talent on the field - or the lack of talent for some - those involved said the event was a great time all around.
