Ellsworth native fills in as Mets manager

MILWAUKEE — Ellsworth native Dick Scott filled in as manager of the New York Mets on Sunday when manager Terry Collins was taken to a Milwaukee hospital 30 minutes before the start of a game against the Brewers.

Collins complained of feeling ill, according to Mets assistant general manager John Ricco. Collins was scheduled to stay in the hospital for more tests and wasn’t accompanying the team back to New York.

It’s uncertain whether Collins will return on Tuesday when the Mets begin a 10-game homestand.

Collins, 67, is the oldest manager in MLB.
